Finally relief

Finally relief

So after my gastroenterologist visit I was given stuff to do to “clean me out” Gastroenterologist visit. This is the same kind of prep for a colonoscopy. I had to take magnesium citrate and I was so nervous about having an accident. I took it and waited, and waited, and waited. This is supposed to work within 30 minutes to 3 hours. Eight hours later nothing. Finally the following morning I went a little, far from the “cleaned out” goal. So I called the doctor and he said I should try again. He was slightly shocked that it didn’t work well and all I could say was welcome to my life.

So I tried again. Swallowed that horrible stuff and waited, and waited and waited. 16 hours later I had a little movement but once again far from the goal. Plus I felt worse. I was so bloated and uncomfortable from that stuff. I finally took a laxative well three, I could have used four, and three days later I’m happy to say I had relief.

I started the prescription this morning but I’m concerned. It isn’t that my stool is hard I just don’t have the muscles anymore to push it out. The doctor is hoping the medicine helps create a regularity that works to relieve myself without accidents. He wanted the higher dosage and I declined now I’m thinking I was wrong. I have a follow up in 3 weeks. Wow this has been a tough week and I am first seeing what the prescription will do so I’m not out of the woods yet. Another fabulous multiple sclerosis symptom.

  1. One of the things I have always sworn by is something called Miralax. It comes in powder and liquid form. The only thing is you have to drink a lot of water with it, or you will make a bad situation worse
