Waking up to use the bathroom all night long

You know you didn’t sleep well when it’s 8:30 in the morning and your Apple Watch already has 6 hours of standing.

I wasn’t feeling good this weekend, maybe the start of a cold. I’m not sneezing but I feel congested especially in my chest. I’ve once again resorted to my oregano oil and breath oils. I feel slightly better today but a good nights sleep would have certainly helped.

That did not happen. Instead I was up every two hours to use the bathroom. Thankfully I now wear pads all the time because I never made it the 10 feet without the urine stream starting. Even with the pads and the short distance to the bathroom I still had 2 accidents that I had to change clothes. That is not normal. That is not normal even for me. I didn’t take a water pill yesterday. I didn’t have salty foods recently. WTF now???

The only thing I thought of is my sour pickles. I’m a sucker for really sour pickles and the stores haven’t had them for a while. My aid found them for me this week. I ate a container. Yum. That was maybe Wednesday and Thursday. I took my water pills since then. Sunday is my weight in and I did gain a ridiculous amount of weight this week but I just thought it was the other bathroom issue that could be the cause of that. I normally wouldn’t do this but I stepped on the scale again today. I was down most of the gained weight. Maybe I was retaining water. I don’t really have a clue.

Of course I did a google search and found this at

Nocturia, or nocturnal polyuria, is the medical term for excessive urination at night. During sleep time, your body produces less urine that is more concentrated. This means that most people don’t need to wake up during the night to urinate and can sleep uninterrupted for 6 to 8 hours.

If you need to wake up two times or more per night to urinate, you may have nocturia. Besides being disruptive to your sleep, nocturia can also be a sign of an underlying medical condition.

I’m sure you can guess what medical conditions are on the list….

I know I’m tired. Shocking statement coming from me. I will workout this morning and spend the afternoon watching tv. My life is very boring but I have my fur balls to keep me company.

  1. Your urologist (I have a gyno-urologist) can unject Botox in your bladder every 6 months and you will have to self-cath, but it give you complete control and no more sleepless nights or “accidents”

  2. I opted out of the Botox, lack of funds and the fact it’s only good for 6 months, best case.
