September 11th

September 11th

If you live in the States I don’t think you can think of anything else but where you were on this day. I was working in an accountants office. I just got out of my car to the office when my ex-husband called. I remember watching the tv in horror. I also remember wanting to leave to get my daughter from daycare and hiding from the world in fear.

The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11)[a] were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda[2][3][4] against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.[5][6] Additional people died of 9/11-related cancer and respiratory diseases in the months and years following the attacks. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_attacks

It’s been 17 years and the pictures are still vivid.

Today I want to remember the thousands that died, the thousands that got hurt and the thousands of brave police, firefighters, volunteers and good people who helped save so many not saving themselves sometimes in the process. September 11 was a terrible day but also brought together the heart of the American people.
