First week with the nursing aide

First week with the nursing aide

Last year at this time, my first blog post said under construction. I hope you enjoyed my weeks worth of revelations of the past year of blog posts. This week, I thought it was gonna be more of a downtime week, didn’t turn out that way. My aide started on Wednesday.  Originally I asked for three days three hours a day. The recommendation of the nurse evaluator was for seven days. My case manager and I decided on three days…

My blog year in review

My blog year in review

My blog is 1 year old tomorrow. I just woke up one day and said I want to write a blog. I didn’t know who would ever read it or exactly what I was going to say, I just knew I was going to be honest. I knew I was going to write about my life and struggles with MS, my daughter, dating, and my dogs. So much has changed in the last year since I started writing. My dog…

Why continue to exercise with multiple sclerosis

Why continue to exercise with multiple sclerosis

“Exercise is essential not just for overall well-being, but also to help manage symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS). In fact, exercise might even slow progression of the disease, according to a 2012 review published in Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders.” This was according to everyday health. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society says basically the same thing and adds, “An exercise program needs to fit the capabilities and limitations of the individual. One of them was sick, I was cleaning up my floor at wee hours of the morning. I was crying because when I’m that tired and can’t sleep I get very frustrated and cranky.  I can’t take not sleeping. It’s just the worst thing that could happen t me. It’s this…

I am never getting a handicap van

I am never getting a handicap van

So I had to take my mom and my stepdad to the airport yesterday. We were driving my black Honda Civic two door. His name is Bob. I name all my cars.  Everybody was trying to tell me you should not get a two door car, you have too many devices that need to go in the car for your MS. They were all right. I really should not of gotten a two door car. However he’s so beautiful and sexy,…

Bears hibernate in the winter, MS patients hibernate in the summer

Bears hibernate in the winter, MS patients hibernate in the summer

Got a wake up call the other day. We went from a comfortable 60° in New York up to  82° overnight.  Silly me, didn’t think anything of it and opened all the windows.  I have roughly 7 windows in my apartment that I opened, well I should say my daughter before she left.  Normally there’s a nice cross breeze in my apartment, but that takes wind. I live upstairs, heat rises, no wind, so no cross breeze and by 2:00 it…
