Meditation…quiet the mind
I couldn’t of been more than 10 years old lying on the floor in my dads house listening to someone tell me to relax my toes, my ankles and all my body parts up to my head. It was when she got to the part where we were painting the inside of our mind in black, back-and-forth, back-and-forth, back-and-forth, that something happened. Somehow or another my body seem to float. I literally felt myself split, that part of me was above and part of me was on the floor. It scared me so much I immediately woke myself up. I’ve never felt that again through a meditation. However that trance I was in at that tender age of 10, was a true meditation where I let go of all thoughts. Now the deepest I’ve ever been in meditation, where all thoughts are truly released, lasts only a fleeting seconds.
MEDITATION:
the action or practice of meditating.
“a life of meditation”
synonyms: contemplation, thought, thinking, musing, pondering, consideration, reflection, deliberation, rumination, brooding, reverie, brown study, concentration;
There are many forms of meditation. There are chants, silence, music, guided, and sounds. The internet and YouTube are filled with information and free videos that you can explore. There are even free apps for your phone that offer quick meditation guides.
Why meditate? Our lives move at very fast paces. We live in a stressful world and it creates anxiety. Our thoughts don’t ever stop even if you are not aware of them. Meditation helps bring you into a present mindset. Helps quiet the thoughts of worry and anxiety that are future based. It brings you into mindful awareness of the present moment. Meditation is said to help lower blood pressure, help get a restful nights sleep, help your body use oxygen and even reduced signs of aging. What is even more amazing, you don’t need an hour to do this, 20 minuets a day can change your whole world. It’s like exercise, training your mind to quiet down, you’ll be calmer throughout the day. The more frequently you do the exercise, the better the results. Try it, try for even 5 minuets in the morning, try different types of meditation, try it for 40 days and I can guarantee your life will completely change.
