A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
The myth we only use 10% of the brain

The myth we only use 10% of the brain

I’m sure you’ve heard somewhere reading, commercials or seeing it on the Internet, the power of the brain. When I started my spiritual journey, the talk about the brain, and the power of it, made me wonder if somehow my thinking made me sick? Did I give myself multiple sclerosis? The brain is said to have such capacity and we only use 10% of it. I  honestly could say I’ve always believed that theory. It is said that 65% of Americans…

Forks over knives-chocolate mug cake vegan

Forks over knives-chocolate mug cake vegan

Who doesn’t need a chocolate fix every now and again? This was a simple, quick and tasty way to get it. Just put your ingredients together throw it in the microwave and presto!!! It’s not as tasty as the vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookies https://multipleexperiences.org/2017/04/08/vegan-oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies/ , but this from start to finish took 10 minutes. Can’t beat that to get a nice vegan dessert. My little notes are in bold. This is a a Forks over Knoves recipe I highly recommend…

Dizzy when I stand up….

Dizzy when I stand up….

Have you ever stood up and got dizzy? “Dizziness or light-headedness when standing up occurs as a result of abnormal blood pressure regulation. Normally, when people stand, gravity causes blood to pool in the veins of the legs and trunk. This pooling lowers the blood pressure and the amount of blood the heart pumps to the brain.” Unfortunately this happens to me more often then I’d like to admit. I remember 3 specific scary stories that were really severe, although…

The Chris Memoli Story

The Chris Memoli Story

I had to go to a pre-prom meeting yesterday for my daughter. I was expecting to see, for the fifth or sixth time, the video of the teenagers who drove drunk and got in a horrific car accidents. They didn’t show a video. Instead they told the story of  this 17 year old boy. He got in a car with a girl who he’d been drinking and smoking with all night.  The boy wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The car flipped…

Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) information

Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) information

I wanted to write another post about Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) the new drug approved recently by the FDA for relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis and primary progressive multiple sclerosis. I am hoping I can simplify the drug information for people here.  I’m not going to go explain what relapse remitting multiple sclerosis is or primary multiple sclerosis is because I’m assuming if you’re looking for information about this drug, you either have it or someone you know has it. If you’re looking…

I am never getting a handicap van

I am never getting a handicap van

So I had to take my mom and my stepdad to the airport yesterday. We were driving my black Honda Civic two door. His name is Bob. I name all my cars.  Everybody was trying to tell me you should not get a two door car, you have too many devices that need to go in the car for your MS. They were all right. I really should not of gotten a two door car. However he’s so beautiful and sexy,…

Online dating and multiple sclerosis

Online dating and multiple sclerosis

It’s official, my match.com membership ends on May 17. I haven’t been really active on match since November.  The last guy dated started off really good, it was my nine-hour date, the blog about it here https://multipleexperiences.org/2016/10/03/my-9-hour-best-first-date/.  He was a nice guy, but it wasn’t for me.   I put up many blogs about how I don’t want to date. I’m scared to date for a few reasons. It’s a funny feeling because I don’t want to be alone but I don’t want to…

Bears hibernate in the winter, MS patients hibernate in the summer

Bears hibernate in the winter, MS patients hibernate in the summer

Got a wake up call the other day. We went from a comfortable 60° in New York up to  82° overnight.  Silly me, didn’t think anything of it and opened all the windows.  I have roughly 7 windows in my apartment that I opened, well I should say my daughter before she left.  Normally there’s a nice cross breeze in my apartment, but that takes wind. I live upstairs, heat rises, no wind, so no cross breeze and by 2:00 it…

Vegan creamed corn

Vegan creamed corn

I was in the mood for creamed corn. It’s one of those foods I love but don’t eat often. I have to be in the mood for it. Once I get the craving for it, I can eat it for days. Knowing that my can of creamed corn in my cupboard could never be vegan, I looked for a recipe…I found a bunch. Whenever something is vegan, you have to remember it won’t be the same as the original however…

Being Vegan and multiple sclerosis

Being Vegan and multiple sclerosis

May is my going to be my 6th month being vegan. I have had no problems being vegan other than salad dressing and my coffee. I prefer having a carb over a protein any day. How it relates to my multiple sclerosis is a different story: You can’t be vegan and not cook. This has been difficult because my hands fatigue easily making chopping, stirring and sautéing tiresome. The other issue is standing on my feet over the stove. I…
