Not the happiest Friday in the home

Not the happiest Friday in the home

I FINALLY had my shoulder checked out by an orthopedist yesterday. He did some maneuvering, X-rays and a visual exam. He told me “there are actually 2 problems going on.” Of course there are, because nothing is simple. “You have tendinitis in the shoulder for sure but your back also is showing arthritis”.  More of the fabulous news. I had junior arthritis as a kid, arthritis is my knees with cysts and now in the back. Ok great now what?…

Calm-my New Year Revelation

Calm-my New Year Revelation

I made made the smart decision in my sad state yesterday to see if my life coach was available, luckily she was. She reminded me of something Kris Carr says about life having seasons.  I am in a winter season right now. I’ve planted my seeds, but it’s still to cold for them to grow. I need to have faith that they are planted and that my warmer season will come and my seeds will bloom. I’m in the nestling…

Sad

Sad

yesterday was a bad multiple sclerosis day. I know those happen too. After my rant I posted, I fell. I’m very grateful I didn’t hurt myself but I’m more grateful that the glass vase that broke wasn’t one of the ones my mom painted. I did break a vase and knocked over a vase that held all the fresh lavender I had still from my sister’s wedding 7 years ago.  The little pieces of lavender ended up all over me…

And what exactly should I do?

And what exactly should I do?

i wanted to go to the specialty grocery store, pick up some plant-based items I couldn’t find at the local store.  It’s not a very large store, easy parking, I thought I’d be ok.  I had 2 small bags with light stuff. I made it to the car, just had to get in my house. Car to house what 20 steps. 6 steps to first landing until I can regret the chair lift. Yet another task that completely exhausted me…

I DO NOT have a green thumb

I DO NOT have a green thumb

Actually I’m pretty sure my thumb, in the gardening world, has been injected with plant poison. Can’t blame this on my multiple sclerosis. I have managed to kill every plant I owned, which even includes cacti, except for one…meet Droopy This plant was given to my husband when he opened a Cold Stone Creamery in Glen Cove about 13 years ago.  The store is gone, the husband is gone, but Droopy remains.  The ONLY reason this plant has not been…

Alpha Lipoic Acid and multiple sclerosis

Alpha Lipoic Acid and multiple sclerosis

At my neurologist appointment she wanted me to start taking Alpha Lipoic acid 1200mg a day.  She explained that like the biotin study I talked about https://multipleexperiences.org/2016/10/24/high-dose-biotin-with-progressive-ms-a-patients-review/ It was shown to help patients with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. The vitamin is inexpensive. I got a bottle of 600mg on Amazon for $14.99. I take 2 a day. I just started yesterday. Like anything I will keep you updated to anything I’ve noticed both good and bad with my own MS symptoms. I…

A post for my French bulldog Marshmellow

A post for my French bulldog Marshmellow

First we know that marshmallow is spelled with an A but the story of how this little guy got his name goes like this…My daughter and I picked him up at the breeder this little white bumpkin. As we were driving home, I was conversing with my older sister (notice how I put the older dig in their 😉). I admitted to getting another dog. Silence fell on the other end of the phone until finally my sister says, “is…

Blogging for the message not the stats

Blogging for the message not the stats

I don’t know why but I’m obsessed with my blogs daily “stats”. Actually who am I kidding, I do know why. I want to matter. I want to write something that people want to read about. I want people to like my blog and I like me. When I had that crazy day on my blog that got 2,216 hits, it was only on one article. One article that I neither wrote completely nor was what my blog is typically…

My first week eating Vegan/plant-based diet…

My first week eating Vegan/plant-based diet…

It wasn’t difficult to not eat meat AT ALL. I didn’t miss it or crave it in the least. My most difficult obstacle was my coffee. Even being on weight watchers 99.9% of my life, I used half n half. I drank coffee very light. I had to give that up. Vegan is no dairy, no meat. I looked online and got a recipe for a can of coconut milk combined with almond milk, both unsweetened, mix them together and…
