Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab) transition part 3

Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab) transition part 3

Well, if your following the saga (or catch up with the link above), I discussed my insurance concerns with my doctor with regards to the Rituxan. The Rituxan will come from the patient assistance program at Genentech. However, the infusion of the Rituxan, steroids, benedryl and saline are not covered. My insurance will deny them because they denied Rituxan. I’m scared, at the last minute, they will tell me we couldn’t get authorization for the infusion therefore you can’t do…

My not going well transition to Ocrevus continued

My not going well transition to Ocrevus continued

Continuing my story from yesterday… Two main things happened yesterday. I was informed that I don’t need blood work done. Shocker!!! I’ve been on Rituxan for a year and have had repeated blood work done satisfying the hepatitis pre-check for Ocrevus. HOWEVER, my doctor felt, we were running into a time crunch and I should stay on Rituxan for the July infusion. I knew it!! I purposely came in to see her June 2 to get everything done for the…

Not a smooth transition to Ocrevus

Not a smooth transition to Ocrevus

OCREVUS (Ocrelizumab) is the new approved drug for the treatment of patients with relapsing or primary progressive forms of multiple sclerosis.  I’ve been on Rituxan, the sister drug to Ocrevus, for over a year. The comparison on the drugs is mostly illustrated in my blog post here… I made the error thinking same company, basically same drug, easy transition….NOT!!! Last Friday I found out that my infusion place that I was receiving the Rituxan from, WILL NOT be doing Ocrevus…

A more structured life with Multiple Sclerosis

A more structured life with Multiple Sclerosis

This was a very long week. Came off an incredible high of my amazing weekend at the spirit junkie master class. Followed right by my doctor for my shoulder, getting a Cortizone shot and finally feeling better.  Going right back to New York City for another neurologist check up with my specialist. Wednesday through Thursday saw 24 hours of drama with my daughter and her boyfriend. Luckily, that ended with a three hour dinner with friends, lousy food but great company….

Doctors, doctors and more doctors

Doctors, doctors and more doctors

I’ll start this with the doctor for my shoulder tendonitis. I went to see him yesterday. Still flying high from my amazing weekend at my spirit junkie master class, I think I even put the doctor in a good mood.  Being that my case is slightly different from other tendonitis cases, I can’t ever rest the arm because I use it with the walker, he was able to give me a Cortizone shot early. He was actually singing as he injected…

Doctors, doctors and more doctors. I have a lot of appointments coming up.  Yesterday I was saw my neurologist. He’s been the doctor I’ve been with the longest, the one who diagnosed me 19+ years ago. At this stage of the game with my MS he treats me systematically. Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) information

Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) information

I wanted to write another post about Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) the new drug approved recently by the FDA for relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis and primary progressive multiple sclerosis. I am hoping I can simplify the drug information for people here.  I’m not going to go explain what relapse remitting multiple sclerosis is or primary multiple sclerosis is because I’m assuming if you’re looking for information about this drug, you either have it or someone you know has it. If you’re looking…

Blogging my online journal

Blogging my online journal

It’s another Monday, how did that happen? So today I was thinking, I wasn’t in the mood to blog. Then I realized I’ve blogged every day since I started the blog in July. Yes, sometimes I cheat and I put up song lyrics like yesterday, but come on Linkin Park rocks, it was meaningful.  Sometimes I put up recipes but let me tell you the Vegan Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies https://multipleexperiences.org/2017/04/08/vegan-oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies/ freaking rock, made them again yesterday. Or my highest traffic…

neurological check-up, mentally preparing, Ocrelizumab, MRI

neurological check-up, mentally preparing, Ocrelizumab, MRI

Let me first address the fact that it took an hour and 45 minutes to get into the city for my check up. That means I’m doing nothing for all that time. I was her first appointment that morning. When we do my neurological checks and timed walking, I’m at the best I’m going to be. Therefore the check up is based on this point. However how realistic is it? This is the first time I was her first appointment,…

An MRI rant

An MRI rant

It’s a rainy, foggy, and dreary day in New York. I’m a passenger in my own car. I have an early morning appointment at my neurologist in the city. Besides the basic neurological tests, we will discuss the possible switch to Ocrelizumab (Ocrevus) and my MRI results. ive already written about my bulging disk result from the spine.https://multipleexperiences.org/2017/04/01/multiple-sclerosis-symptoms-in-my-head/ My neurologist wrote me yesterday “good news, the brain MRI is stable”. It is good news, I know that. However it’s been the…
