Theme to Mahogany by Diana Ross

Theme to Mahogany by Diana Ross

I was watching an episode of Divorce on HBO when Sarah Jessica Parker’s character started singing the Theme to Mahogany. This song reminds me of my dad. Sitting by the piano listening to him play on a Sunday afternoon. This song and Windmills of Your Mind were my two favorite songs to hear. I danced at my wedding with my dad to this song. I’m waiting for my video of him playing it to keep forever. I’m available to record in January.

Theme to Mahogany

Do You Know

Where you’re going to?

Do you like the things?

That life is showing you

Where are you going to?

Do you know?

Do you get?

What you’re hoping for?

When you look behind you

There’s no open doors

What are you hoping for?

Do you know?

Once we were standing still, in time

Chasing the fantasies and feeling all nice

You knew how I loved you, but my-spirit was free

Laughing at the questions

That you once asked of me

Now looking back at all we’ve had

We let so many dreams just slip through our hands

Why must we wait so long, before we see?

How sad the answers to those questions can be

Do you get?

What you’re hoping for

When you look behind you

There’s no open doors

What are you hoping for?

Do you know?

Fade Out

  1. Thanks for sharing, So very touching and moving. No matter how tough the day may be music always has a way of lifting me and others up. I listen to music when I swim sending me into an almost euohoric and relaxed state of mind where My MS has does not reside.

I noted the credits at the bottom of your post. Is this required? Dix –

    1. I’m not sure about the credits at the bottom. I saw another person did so I did too.
I wish I had music when I swim that’s exactly what I’m missing. What do you use that’s waterproof?

      1. Sounds like a good idea to me as well. As for music while swimming the only way to go is with Finis Dou made by Finis Swim Product. The beauty about this MP3 player is that it attaches to your googles and rest on you cheek bones (not in your ears) leaving your ears free to hear people and talk to people when not swimming. Sound travels exceptionally well in water, and when you are swimming it sounds as clear as being alone in you car. I highly recommend you buy one on Amazon $89+
