Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis – OMS

Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis – OMS

I need to thank Jen from Tripping through Treacle’s http://trippingthroughtreacle.com/ Who reminded me of this. If you haven’t followed my blog, for almost a year I became vegan. I did it for health reasons. I wanted to see if it made any difference in my multiple sclerosis. The real reason I ended up stopping is because for some reason I started putting on weight. I ended up joining weight watchers and at the time being vegan was very difficult to…

Swimming, swimming in the swimming pool

Swimming, swimming in the swimming pool

It’s Friday. Happy Friday to everyone. It’s a gloomy day again in New York. That’s OK I’m happy to report I don’t need to go out today. I’m going Swimming though. I’ve been doing laps in the pool. LAPS!!!! I wasn’t able to do that a few months ago. I was hardly able to do a stroke. LAPS!!!! It’s exciting. The truth is my body remembers how to swim even though I haven’t tried it in years. . My feet…

I swallowed my pride and bought pants in a bigger size

I swallowed my pride and bought pants in a bigger size

I think I could just write the title and stop there. It was a big deal for me. I worked very hard to get into the size 8 that I was. More importantly I stayed in that size for eight years. I still have no answers to what’s going on and why my weight keeps coming on the way it is but it is but I can’t stop it. I’m doing all the right things and it’s just not coming…

Update on the European withdrawal on high dose biotin application

Update on the European withdrawal on high dose biotin application

As promised it was the first question I asked my neurologist. She explains that the study had 93 people in it. According to the study, over the course of a year, of the 93 people enrolled something like 20 of them had relapses that I never had a relapses before. That’s why they deemed that the high does biotin was not effective. This is the information on the application for the withdrawal. http://www.ema.europa.eu/ema/index.jsp?curl=pages/medicines/human/medicines/004153/wapp/Initial_authorisation/human_wapp_000247.jsp&mid=WC0b01ac058001d128. No questions for my neurologist

No questions for my neurologist

My mother sent me a text yesterday to write down the questions I have for the neurologist. It’s been 20 years, what questions do I still have for the neurologist? I know the research, I know what’s out there and I know what I’m on. Unfortunately, there is nothing for secondary progressive and therefore there is nothing that will stop the MS progression at this point. I’m very positive, but I’m also a realist. I’m not gonna run around with…

Going back to a Plant-based/ vegan diet

Going back to a Plant-based/ vegan diet

I physically see my neurologist tomorrow, but she wrote back to me in my email that I sent to her. She said that it’s she has heard of some of her MS patients getting swelling in the calves, ankles and feet area for some unknown reason. Her only concern is why it came on so suddenly with me and now seems to be an issue. My guess is it was coming on a little slowly but then got really bad…

Circulatory issues possibly Raynaud’s Syndrome

Circulatory issues possibly Raynaud’s Syndrome

So I went to the podiatrist. As soon as he looked at my feet the first words he said was your feet are swollen. He asked if I could possibly have Raynaud’s syndrome, have I seen a vascular doctor? Oy-vey… I knew the swelling isn’t normal but another doctor. He said the good news is I feel the pulse, that means that the blood is in there still circulating through my feet. However, he said this is the circulatory issue…

Ocrevus infusion: how you feel the following weeks

Ocrevus infusion: how you feel the following weeks

Every six months it’s hard to remember what happens. I should look back to my own blog posts. I was so wrapped up in how the steroids made me sick that I forgot that they would also give me burst of energy. It explains how I stood for a half an hour during a work out. This week that burst of energy went from 100 to about 30. I wrote that my workout was pretty bad in terms of stamina…
