Unfortunately I have MS

Unfortunately I have MS

If I had a dollar for every time someone said to me, “feel better soon” when they see me walking. People see that I’m young and assume I just hurt myself or had some sort of surgery. It’s hard for them to imagine that this is how it is everyday. Unfortunately, I have MS, there is no feeling better soon. I’ve felt good, at least relative to how good I could feel with my disease. I attribute it to my…

Two year renewal of Multiple Experiences

Two year renewal of Multiple Experiences

It’s official, today I renewed my blog’s domain name for another two years. This also renewed my iPage contract that my blog is hosted through. I made my commitment to my blog, to my readers and to myself. That means I’m going to be around every day for another two years. I have to admit, I’ve been a little lazy with this blog. I haven’t put much effort in lately. It wasn’t done on purpose, it was just a tough…

The weekly review

The weekly review

Well Mahjong was a blast yesterday. I picked it up pretty well. My mom was impressed how quickly I got it. I grew up around my mom playing it every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. If I was home sick I’d hear them all day calling the tiles. After a while you pick some things up. Everyone else was getting it by the end. We are going to get another lesson. I just finished swimming 50 laps. The pool was filed…

Learning Mahjong tonight

Learning Mahjong tonight

I’m actually very excited about this. I’ve wanted to learn this for a long time. I’ve really had no excuse, my mother and stepfather teach people to play it. However, it’s not really my stepdads favorite thing. You need at least four people. We were going to enlist my daughter as the fourth. She really don’t want to do it. I finally just asked my friends and they were like “I want to learn”. So tonight it’s just my mom,…

Bad MS day

Bad MS day

Yesterday was a tough one. From the moment I woke up, to the moment I went to bed. I even slept for 12 hours. It started first thing in the morning, I fell almost to soon as I got out of bed. The spasticity in my body was at an all time high. I really wanted to take a second neurontin, but I know that can make me very loopy and would make my walking even harder. Since I was…

Other weather conditions that impact MS

Other weather conditions that impact MS

I had therapy yesterday, and it was harder than it was the other day. I happened to be talking about the difficulty with a couple other people and one of the therapists. She said she can’t discuss diagnosis but we could. Which made me automatically know that the people around me all had multiple sclerosis. We all said “Yup I have MS” and we all we agreeing how we were having a “tough” MS day. Is it possible for people…

MS World Day

MS World Day

Marked by May 30th. This day is to bring the MS community together. #bringinguscloser This day is for us to share our stories, raise awareness, and come closer to finding a cure. Today I’m going to attach a 2018 MSAA’s research update. It has so much information. It has all the current drugs, experimental drugs and drugs in clinical studies. A great research tool for anyone with MS. https://mymsaa.org/publications/msresearch-update-2018/ Full downloadable version https://mymsaa.org/publications/msresearch-update-2018/download/

“Fear” of walking with canes from the rollator

“Fear” of walking with canes from the rollator

My MS therapist was here yesterday. She was doing some balance stuff with me in the pool observing my core. She said you should be walking now without the rollator. Not without help mind you, but with canes. My back is so straight I should be able to be upright, not leaning over with the rollator. So that is the new game plan, to start teaching my legs to walk again with two canes for balance. We did a practice…

Handicap parking spot abuse

Handicap parking spot abuse

Can we talk about handicap parking? I know I’ve had blogs about this before, but it’s still a very sore topic for me. I understand that there’s a requirement that a certain amount of spots, based on the size the property and the total number of spots allocated, have to be given to handicap parking. It just never seems to be enough. Why is it never enough? Because everybody seems to get one. It’s not for the truly disabled anymore….

My own handicap reserved spot

My own handicap reserved spot

My condo gave me an assigned spot. There are six handicap spots in front of my building. Normally I leave in the morning and I’m back in the mornings, I get a spot back. However if I go out towards the afternoon, sometimes I don’t get a spot. The other close spots could also get taken pretty easily especially at night. If I’m having dinner with a friend, when I come home, parking is a problem. I can’t walk that…
