Never Give Up

Never Give Up

I am still making shocking improvements. I walked my hallway in PT. I haven’t done that since last year. https://multipleexperiences.org/2021/06/18/walking-again/. I at one point had a goal to not use the wheelchair in the condo anymore. As much as I would like to believe this is still an attainable goal, it is far down on my goal list. I was amazed I have been able to walk again at all. It took almost 30 minutes to walk roughly 50 feet,…

Stubbornness and Defiance

Stubbornness and Defiance

It has taken me almost 6 months but I finally did it. I GOT UP FROM MY COMFY CHAIR. I got up by myself. I actually started standing up when my therapist was a few feet away from me. I didn’t want anyone to touch me. I knew I could get up. I didn’t want to have that hand on me for guidance. I wanted my victory. I deserved my victory. I know the walking was the biggest thing to…

Shocking to everyone including me

Shocking to everyone including me

I was sitting up at the end of the bed when he got there. I popped right up to stand. My PT therapist said try to take a step. I was standing up with one of those silver walkers. Well, I took a step. It was my first step since the end of December. I then took another and another. I was going forward and back in the small space of my room. I was getting tripped up having to…

My own discouragement rant

My own discouragement rant

I was determined to get into my comfy chair. Ok getting in isn’t the problem, it’s getting out. The chair is not only low but mushy. I don’t have anything very solid to push myself up to a standing position. I tried to angle the wheelchair in front of me, using the chair’s arms. Unfortunately, that didn’t help either. The end result was being lifted up by both my physical therapist and the aide. I was discouraged. Getting into, excuse…

Multiple sclerosis is physical and mental

Multiple sclerosis is physical and mental

I had physical therapy again yesterday which once again ended up disappointing. I walked less than I ever walked in these sessions of PT. I woke up feeling good. I did my normal morning routine. I felt good and then I started getting tired. Therapy was at 12 and by that time I was already feeling fatigued. I was determined to walk but my body wasn’t matching my will. It was pathetic and frustrating from the first step. Why??? This…

Physical therapy 1st appointment

Physical therapy 1st appointment

I can’t say enough good things about this guy. He is just a person size package of warmth and healing. It is nice to be the only one the therapist is focused on during an hour session as well. Even though my occupational therapist was from the same company, he was no where near the caliber of my physical therapist. My hour session were never an hour more like 30-40 minutes at best. I wasn’t complaining. He was more like…

New physical therapist

New physical therapist

I had my physical therapy evaluation yesterday at 3 o’clock. I thought the time alone would be a complete disaster. I worked out yesterday from 9 to 10 AM. I had my beautiful sister here from about 11 to 1:30. I I thought I was exhausted but oddly enough I really had a second wind. First I must honestly say I loved this guy. He comes into my house and the first thing he does is greet my dogs. The…

PT like it or not…

PT like it or not…

This might be brief. I just got home from my double therapy sessions. I am wiped out as expected. OT was challenging and PT was hard as expected. I can’t say I dislike my new PT therapist she knows what she is doing but makes me work. She is more focused on my exercises, all of them. Today she had me doing the leg press from the chair. I’ve done this a million times in therapy and found it to…

The annoying but harmless guy in physical therapy

The annoying but harmless guy in physical therapy

I’ve been going to physical therapy since November 2016. The way my insurance works is I get 20 calendar visits per year.  I started in 2016 so it just worked out that I was able to do many months in a row. My physical therapy actually runs an amazing program that after this  physical therapy set up, I could pay a monthly fee and use everything in the gym, only giving up with the physical therapist actually have to do, which…
