PT like it or not…

PT like it or not…

This might be brief. I just got home from my double therapy sessions. I am wiped out as expected. OT was challenging and PT was hard as expected. I can’t say I dislike my new PT therapist she knows what she is doing but makes me work. She is more focused on my exercises, all of them. Today she had me doing the leg press from the chair. I’ve done this a million times in therapy and found it to be useless. Not today, because she set it up correctly. Over 3 years I’ve been going to this place and today the leg press I felt was always useless was a challenge. An exercise I used to have all the bands engaged I had to drop down to two of the six attached. Today my quad muscle worked in that leg press. Then she turned it around and made it a pull for the hamstring. In all the years I’ve been going I never did an exercise for my hamstrings ever. That wasn’t even the end. She took the machine to the parallel bars and had me kick back to engage my glute muscles. I can’t remember the last time I did anything like that. It was so hard but it was hard because it was muscles I don’t work anymore and need strengthening. We did a few other things and ended with me walking a lap with a rollator. She doesn’t let me use my wheelchair even from exercise to exercise. I might not like PT but I have to respect the difference this new therapist brings to the table. It is very hard and she is making me work but even I can admit it serves a purpose. Like it or not I’m going to be at PT each week.
