This picture took me 25 years to get. It was November 22, 2004 and U2 released How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. November 22 is my birthday. The did a lot of publicity on this one. The had an impromptu concert under the Brooklyn Bridge after they went around the city singing on a flatbed truck. I was one of the 1,000+ people who didn’t go to work and was at the Brooklyn Bridge for that concert.  The next evening was Saturday Night Live. I was outside the entire night. It was 2:30 maybe 3:00 in the morning and a garage across the street opens and the 20+ people go running.  Thankfully this was 2004 my MS wasn’t as bad but I couldn’t run.  I was at the end and I was face to face with Adam Clayton in the first car. I got his signature in red on my favorite album but even holding the camera I didn’t think of a picture I froze. Bono car was behind and he was my goal.  People were grabbing my album to get him to sign and I said “NO, it’s my birthday I’m getting it.” And next thing I knew I’m next to the car my head on Bono (literally our heads are on each other) taking a picture. He signs my album in pen and says happy birthday.

That will always be one of the best moments of my life. I was a huge U2 fan since I was 12 years old and I stole a mix tape of my sisters that had U2 War songs on it. I was hooked. I have bootlegs, lithographs, collectibles and more albums than they released. I was a truly insane fanatic but definitely calmed down after this photo.  My fanatical obsession is my emails and even my license plate. However I’m glad I was calm already because my MS would have completely put it to an end. However they are and still will always be the soundtrack to my life. They’ve been there through every stage. I’ve listened to them for happy, sad and all in between. I walked down the aisle at my wedding. It is band loyalty for sure.

Yesterday I came across a picture at the heart radio show
