A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
The past relationships that bring fear to the future

The past relationships that bring fear to the future

At a nice dinner last night with my parents we briefly talked about my past relationships and any future relationships. I said something that finally was the truth about how I feel. I don’t want to date because I DON’T TRUST MYSELF YET and I don’t know if I ever will. I just know I NEVER WANT TO BE THAT GIRL I WAS AGAIN. Don’t they say abstinence is  the best prevention. I made bad choices for myself. My ex-husband…

I hate insurance companies

I hate insurance companies

Here we go again. Another battle with the insurance. After I went to through the the battle with them and filed every appeal possible for my Rituxan, I was denied. Insurance denied saying it was not approved for multiple sclerosis. Although we filed all the necessary paperwork and they did approve it for others they would not approve it on my case. What is more than frustrating and this is that the new drug that is coming out for MS,…

Today’s a new day

Today’s a new day

I’m certainly better than yesterday, I should start the blog off with that. Sometimes you hide how you feel inside because you don’t want to live feeling like that. Yes my life is hard. Yes things are a challenge. Yes it’s a sucky disease. Most people know this. I don’t have to reiterate that fact each day, so I try very hard not to. However it is the truth to MY life and it is like this 24 hours a…

Vegan black bean brownies

Vegan black bean brownies

First thing is this recipe was found on the Minimalist Baker website. http://minimalistbaker.com/vegan-gluten-free-black-bean-brownies/. Lots of fun recipes there to look around and try. For me to be on any kind of diet, or non diet, I have to have something to appeal to my sweet tooth. My favorite thing through Hungryroot was the black bean brownie mix but to ship just one or two of their products was expensive and buying a whole bunch of their products to get the free…

Happy Anniversary Multiple Sclerosis

Happy Anniversary Multiple Sclerosis

Valentine’s Day weekend, 19 years ago, I was moving into the house my ex-husband and I just bought. Actually we bought the house back in December but we did work on the house so we didn’t officially move in until Valentine’s Day weekend.  It was supposed to be a romantic thing first weekend in the house. I started having difficulty walking that weekend. Boxes and more boxes throughout the house. Furniture deliveries coming throughout the day that Saturday. I’m sure…

Vegan check in…

Vegan check in…

I’m only doing these “check ins” because I’m new to being vegan. I made for the first time the last few weeks a pasta dish that was delicious. The recipe is in this post.https://multipleexperiences.org/2017/02/09/forks-over-knives-vegan-chef-dels-mushroom-stroganoff/ My soup is still my favorite, it’s easy filling and so good.https://multipleexperiences.org/2017/02/01/vegan-creamy-potato-curry-soup/. I did run out of my almond milk/coconut milk that I whip together for my coffee a few times. That lead me to the half and half. I finally just bought Silk the non dairy…

A family gathering always worth it

A family gathering always worth it

I had a Bar Mitzvah yesterday. That’s when a boy (Bat Mitzvah for a girl) turns 13 and becomes an adult in the Jewish religion. It was my 1st cousins son’s event. I was at her Bat Mitzvah 28 years before. Ok that’s one way to put the whole age thing into perspective. Dressing in simple clothes is overwhelming adding the fancy outfit and full make up…Well I gave myself plenty of time to work in stages to hopefully prevent…

The mental progression of assistive devices

The mental progression of assistive devices

This is so follow up or maybe part 2 of yesterday’s post. I’ve listen to many people and read many blogs that discuss the need for assistance devices and how they “aren’t ready”. A huge part of the progression of multiple sclerosis chips away at your personal independence. It’s a stage of the disease that affects the ego and the perception of normal or healthy. It’s when we start to look different from everyone else. When we can’t hide the…

When your MS progresses your assistive devices progress too

When your MS progresses your assistive devices progress too

As multiple sclerosis progresses, so does your assistive needs. The first thing I got was the handicap parking permit. I’ve had this for many, many years. I got this early in my disease when I use to work in NYC and had to take a train. The parking at the station was insane and even back then walking that long distance in a rush to catch a train was very difficult. I was never able to run or skip again…
