Choking on liquids
I had 2 choking episodes yesterday. Maybe choking isn’t the exact word because I really just swallowed wrong. The first one was mangos. Cut up in small pieces but slightly hard and very tart, just the way I like them. I swallowed wrong but it wasn’t the actual mango that was causing the problem. The tartness of the piece in my saliva is what I swallowed incorrectly. It caused me to cough, as it should, however I couldn’t move that…
Weight and weight of the scale
I spent 6 hours at the hair salon the other day. I had my hair straightened. A long process but worth the time it takes. I will not have to worry about doing my hair all summer. Shower, let dry naturally and it comes out perfect. That takes a tremendous amount of pressure off me not having to worry about my hair. Anytime I can clear something off my plate, I take it happily. The only thing is the straightening…
My daughter graduating college
My daughter is graduating from college on Tuesday. I am so proud of her. She has not had an easy road especially when it came to school. She was born with a progressive hearing loss called EVAS, enlarged vestibular aqueduct syndrome. In basic terms, her ear was formed with deformities. This enlarged tube allowed fluid to leak, eventually destroying the hairs on the ears nerve where sound travels. I’ve written a few blogs about her but the following is the…
Dedicated to Marshmallow
My dogs like to leave this world on holidays. My Boomer died on Christmas Day and Marshmallow was put down on Mother’s Day. Technically the date last year was different than this year snd it was officially a year ago today I said goodbye. However, it was the evening of Mother’s Day and that’s what I’ll remember more. My sweet boy, my guardian and protector. He was always by my side. He loved all people but I was his person….
Still have a view
I finally found the plans for the hotel that will be taking up the empty lots in my direct view. The plans weren’t actually finalized until January of 2021. Originally the plans were for a three story hotel, a two story conference/wedding center and a two story covered garage was being built at the end of the block. I would loose my entire view from my living room. I’d still have water on the canal to the left but the…
Unexpected Friendship
I went out on a date with this guy 12 years ago and we’ve remained friends all this time. He took me to a Paul McCartney concert at CitiField, not a shabby first date. He was a pharmaceutical rep for another neurological disease. It was easy to make him fully aware I had multiple sclerosis. He understood these diseases and had relationships with many of the neurologist in the area. However, it doesn’t stop him from bringing up that I…
Jumping from a plane
Good morning. Another week starts again. It is grey looking outside. However the weekend was gorgeous. Open windows and fresh air, I love days like that. Having multiple sclerosis, I like when weather warms up but not when it gets hot. Unfortunately summer is right around the corner and that’s when the bad days will outnumber the good. I don’t have to explain this to anyone with MS, most people have this issue. That’s why I cherish those days with…
AM vs PM
My phone rings at a little after 6am this morning. I pick it up thinking that it was possibly my contractor. It was my front gate. I had a delivery from Amazon. I set up a food delivery for today and took the only available window of time 5-7. I didn’t even realize that it was for the AM. Duh!!!!Now I had to get up to bring in the packages. Of course my puppies were up now too. I was…
Medical marijuana for MS, infections, migraines, stress, depression, arthritis…
This was sent to me from my dad. An interesting read on the use of marijuana with many neurological diseases and the red tape it still faces with our government. While arguing in court that marijuana has no medical value and is a dangerous drug on the one hand, the federal government is patenting marijuana extracts for health-related uses on the other. But it granted a license to GW Pharmaceuticals for treating patients with multiple sclerosis with a cannabinoid-based drug…
