A meltdown

A meltdown

I got a package yesterday from the pet memorial place. I was certain it was the urn for my Marshy with his ashes and paw prints. I actually went downstairs to the guard booth to pick it up myself. I didn’t want it sitting there. I was already anxious and upset. These were what was left of my sweet boy. I opened the box and the urn, while pretty, was larger than I expected. It was also light, too light….

In loving memory of Marshmallow

In loving memory of Marshmallow

I don’t really know what to write. My heart is so heavy from the loss of my Marshmallow. I’ve stopped crying spontaneously but my heart hurts so much. Going to bed is the hardest part. Marshy was my one dog that ALWAYS slept touching me. Normally he slept under the blankets by my feet. As he got warm under there he’d come out and sleep on the blankets at my feet. This back and forth would go on all night…

Words of support from other dog lovers

Words of support from other dog lovers

I belong to three Facebook groups for dogs. One of them is English bulldogs and two are for French bulldogs. Anytime I see something posted about someone losing a dog, I always try to write. I completely understand and remember the pain of losing Boomer, my English Bulldog, over 3 years ago. When I lost my Marshmallow I posted it on one of the sites. I never realized how much those posts could actually bring a little comfort until it…

My marshmallow

My marshmallow

I’m very concerned about my Marshmallow. He is over 11 years old now and lately he’s not eating well. I’ve tried mixing many different things into his food, including his favorite, peanut butter. He might eat a few bites but then walks away. I can get him to eat a little more by feeding him each piece hand by hand. What starts at 8:30!with a 1/2 cup of food sometimes isn’t finished until 2:30. Then it starts all over again…

Sometimes you have to laugh

Sometimes you have to laugh

Well sometimes my MS issues lead to funny outcomes. I got my mom to bake Mandel Bread. These are cookies very similar to biscottis. It is one of those recipes passed down through the family for a long time. It use to be so hard to get the dough mixed so we never made them often. Then mom got this great mixer and she can make them in record time. After she cleaned every closet and draw in the house…

Good morning

Good morning

I woke up early today. I feel good, rested and ready to start the day. I wake up every morning happy. How can I not? The first thing I see are smiles My Plakie Humpty Dumpty dolls I’ve collected all my life. They always make me feel happy. Then I have my Zoey who is cuddled up next to me. She’ll stay sleeping until she senses any movement from me and then her eyes are wide open. Marshy is usually…

It’s a king size bed

It’s a king size bed

I have only one thing to say this morning Move over!!! I this is my bed I sleep next to the bar on my back. I don’t toss and turn. I only move my head from one side to the other. My biggest no movement is tossing the blankets aside to get out of bed for the bathroom. Then I pull them right back. I take up very little space. My Zoey and Marshmallow sleep with me every night. Every…

A visit to the vet

A visit to the vet

My poor Zoey. She’s very upset. Crying at the door. Running back and forth between me and that shut door looking for her brother Marshmallow. He was just taken to the vet by my daughter. They are doing a drive thru vet visit. When she arrives she calls the vet, they come out and pick up Marshy. When he’s done, they’ll bring him back out. Pretty smart in these crazy times. My Marshy is due for his annual checkup. It…

My dogs and finding a back up aid

My dogs and finding a back up aid

Good morning, happy Monday. I’m definitely on the recovery side of things and I’m so grateful for that. I’m hoping to play mahjong for a little today with the ladies in my building. I might not be able to play all day but I’ll be thrilled if I can get through a few hours. I canceled therapy for tomorrow because without an aid with me I am worried I’d be too fatigued on my own. That leads me to today’s…

Home bound

Home bound

My vacation comes to an end today. We are leaving for home in the early afternoon. I had a wonderful time with my family, as I always do, but my other family is at home. I miss my dogs. I know I sound like a crazy person to some people but I do. I’m with my fur babies 24/7 and when I leave for a period of days, I miss them. I miss them the most when I’m going to…
