Hallelujah open the windows the summer is over
Sorry all you beach bums but I’m a a fall weather girl. I love the crisp air, leaves changing color, Halloween, thanksgiving, my birthday and my oversized yummy sweatshirts. I love the smell of cinnamon and apples, pumpkin picking, hay rides and pies. There is nothing about the fall I don’t love.
This is my time of year always has been. I just have so many good memories of this time of year. My favorite picture of my daughter was her in a patch of pumpkins, which may or may not have been destroyed by hurricane Sandy, she was maybe 3. My mother use to have these adorable scarecrows that came up from the basement every year with a bale of hay. Decorated with mini gourds and mini pumpkins until the squirrels ate them. It was the only season she decorated outside for. It’s the only time Concord grapes are available in the supermarket. Actually they are only available from September to maybe early October. I love apple cider on a cool night wrapped up in my favorite blanket. I love the smell and sound of a fire crackling. Nothing beats the fire. I can be mesmerized by it for hours and so content. The heat and the way the flames dance in front of your face to a song only it can hear. How amazing is that?
Then it’s also my birthday in the fall which I must admit made me happier when I was younger but it is still a fall favorite time. It comes right around or even on thanksgiving so it feels very celebrated every year. The same decorations on the table, the forgotten cranberry mold that no one eats, the excess amounts of food and the traditional food we make every year.
Today even in the rainy cloudy morning, I smelled the fall and I was very happy for all the smiles that smell brought to my memory.

We are still waiting. Ours is coming in tomorrow. Yes, hallelujah!
