Too much fruit causing weight gain

Too much fruit causing weight gain

I might have solved my own weight problem. I think I figured out what was causing me to put on weight and not take it off even on a diet. The answer was fruit. FRUIT!!!! Yup, you heard it right. I was on a mostly plant-based diet but I ate a ton of fruit. Fruit was always my breakfast and fruit was always my snacks. Those frozen grapes. Normally I only would eat frozen grapes during the summer months to help cool me off, for some reason I didn’t stop at the end of last summer. Probably because I fell in love with these grapes I found called gum drops, moon drops and cotton candy. Then they just became my nightly snack instead of eating anything else. The problem was I didn’t eat 10-20 like a serving size, I’d eat more like 60 sometimes. Wouldn’t be terrible once in a while, but I did it every night. Plus I was eating fruit throughout the day.

You might be saying how did you come up with this? The Internet of course. I found this blog from a nutritionist that made complete sense to me http://pilatesnutritionist.com/5-signs-youre-eating-too-much-fruit/

I agree that fruit is a healthier alternative to many desserts and junk foods, but if fruit is a staple item at every meal and snack, you may simply be eating too many carbohydrates to allow your body to lose weight. In brief, any time we eat carbohydrates our blood sugar goes up. That triggers our body to release insulin to lower the blood sugar. How does it do that? By

converting it to fat for storage!

One thing I know about my body, it doesn’t do well with carbs. Especially to many carbs. I was spiking my insulin all the time. I’ve been dieting my whole life. When I started gaining weight on a diet him was exercising five days a week, something wasn’t right. I really did think it was something medical, when everything checked out there I didn’t know where else to turn. I was about to go a step further and see an endocrinologist. I decided to try this first.Today marks the third week I cut out my grapes at night. It’s the first time in 8 months I took off 2 pounds and have not gained it back. It may sound silly, it’s not a lot of weight, and it’s not what I gained, but it’s a beginning.
