My daughter is going to Israel

It was just before 8am on my clock and I couldn’t understand why my daughter didn’t come in to say goodbye yet. Her friend was picking her up by 8 to go to the airport. She and her two friends are going to Israel with Birthright https://www.birthrightisrael.com/about_us. They are supposed to be at the airport at 9 for a 1pm flight. Needless to say when I went into her room, she was still sleeping. Poor thing forgot to set her shaker on her alarm. She’s deaf so if the bed doesn’t shake, she won’t get up. I must give my girl credit because she is not a morning person. She somehow managed to get dressed, brush her teeth and put in the last remaining items into her suitcase in less than 15 minutes. She was downstairs in her friends car by 8:13. They made it to the airport by 9.

She is going with two girls she already knows but there are about 40 kids going altogether. They go for 10 days. The trip has an amazing itinerary and she is going to have a great time. I wasn’t brought up religious and therefore neither was she but it is nice to know the background of religion something I never learned. I hope she gets some of this on this trip. I’m actually a little jealous, I would have loved to have done something like this when I was younger. What a great opportunity they give these kids. I can’t believe the generosity behind it. This is my daughter’s first trip overseas. I’m so excited for her to have this wonderful opportunity. I hope that it is as amazing and enlightening as it sounds.

  1. Good morning and congratulations, dear. You will have a unique experience, from the cultural and social perspectives, with helpful guides and exciting company. My son just came back from the same trip and is still raving about it ( by the way, how come you girls did not comment his picture praying at the Western Wall that I posted a few days ago,eh? That’s not nice) Being his father born in the country (Uruguay) that put the deciding vote in the UN Security Council for the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 and considering that his mother’s ancient relatives in Spain were converted Jews, we applauded his bold decision to explore “his Jewish side.”
A big kiss to both of you. Bon voyage!

    1. Good morning I must have missed your post on your son at the wall. Shame on me. Otherwise I certainly would have commented. They could have almost met. I think that is fabulous that he’s exploring his roots. I’m thrill my daughter wanted to as well. It will be an incredible experience as I’m sure it was for your son. Have a wonderful day.
