I’m doing much better with my wheelchair now. I have definitely taken the advice of my therapist and utilized my wheelchair to move me into position. My wheelchair tips from the evaluatorsIt looks something like this:

It forces your butt to slide back into position. It took a little for me to get use to because I felt like I was going to tip backwards but that obviously hasn’t happened. It is an unnatural feeling, that’s for sure. I have not figured out the best way to transfer from the chair to my bed. Unfortunately that one I still have to figure out. I’ve been continuing to utilize my step stool and grab bars. It is fine if I’m not too tired but that’s not usually the case. Right now I’ve been fortunate to have my daughter around. She has helped me into bed most nights but she is leaving soon to go back to college. This is one of the reasons I’m looking to change the hours of my aid. Nobody likes change. That has yet to be determined if it will work out.

It’s quiet in my house and outside today. We have had tropical storm warnings for Long Island, where I live. However, looking at the maps the band of rain is more inland and we will only have some wind. I received calls from my town about costal flooding during high tides. Emails from our county executives. The food stores were ransacked due to the impending weather (because people still believe we will never get out again), yet not hitting us. I find it amazing that we still can’t accurately predict weather. This is why when the big storms hit, people don’t listen. Sandy, which devastated Long Island and many other areas,wasn’t taken seriously because the year before was Katrina. They predicted this to be a huge storm and evacuated so many areas and nothing happened. A year later when they repeated the same thing for hurricane Sandy, people didn’t listen. Regardless of weather prediction, it is a cloudy overcast day and not one boat is on the water. A big difference from yesterday. Another beautiful view.

I’m amazed Minx is only a little over 3 months old. He is such a good puppy and totally trained on the wee wee pads. Other than the teething, I just love him so much. Zoey has even become cuter. I didn’t know that was possible.

This is them sleeping on me. Does it get any sweeter than this? I just love my dogs. I miss the ones I lost and adore the ones I have.
