A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
Happy 11th Birthday Marshmallow

Happy 11th Birthday Marshmallow

My baby boy is 11 today. My April Fool’s Day puppy. Purchased for my daughter on her 10th birthday and he’s been attached to me since the day we brought him home. After doing tons of research before choosing my English Bulldog, we did none for the French. We thought he’d be a smaller version of our Boomer. We were very wrong. Named because he was white and we’d thought he’d be “mellow” we actually spell his name Marshmellow but…

It’s a king size bed

It’s a king size bed

I have only one thing to say this morning Move over!!! I this is my bed I sleep next to the bar on my back. I don’t toss and turn. I only move my head from one side to the other. My biggest no movement is tossing the blankets aside to get out of bed for the bathroom. Then I pull them right back. I take up very little space. My Zoey and Marshmallow sleep with me every night. Every…

A New World

A New World

It is hard to have things to talk about these days other than being in isolation against the coronavirus. I live on Long Island which is in New York State. In my county, which is about half of the Island, there are over 6,000 cases. In my town 112 cases. https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/DocumentCenter/View/28946/POSITIVES-BY-PLACE-3-28-PM. This sh@t is real and it isn’t slowing down. Parents are home schooling children. People aren’t working or getting paid. It isn’t just the virus that worries me. It…

Formula 1, my new obsession

Formula 1, my new obsession

I stumbled upon the documentary Drive to Survive on Netflix. I think I watched the first season in a day. I was completely enthralled. I loved every second of it. Where has this been all my life? I didn’t even want to start the second season because I knew it would end. I immediately googled formula One to see when the season started. This season has been postponed because of the coronavirus. I don’t mean to sound horrible here, but…

When transitioning to a wheelchair be sure to see an OT for evaluation

When transitioning to a wheelchair be sure to see an OT for evaluation

I completely understand why I have the been in the wrong wheelchair all this time. I had a very different experience this morning in preparation for a new wheelchair. I was asked questions to start with. Questions about my home. What accommodations I have done in my home thus far? What is my bathroom shower set up? What is my bed I sleep in? How wide is my kitchen? What difficulties do I have in the bathroom with my current…

I’m going out…my wheelchair evaluation

I’m going out…my wheelchair evaluation

I’m going out into the zombie apocalypse tomorrow. Wish me luck. It will be my first time out in almost two weeks. I’ve been very good at hiding myself away to keep safe but now I must make an appearance. I finally got an appointment for a wheelchair evaluation at my physical therapy office. I’ve waited four months to be seen. I couldn’t decide to not go. They assured me that the staff is in masks and the gym is…

What are you watching?

What are you watching?

Since so many of us are indoors and looking for things to watch, I thought I’d once again give you my list of some of my favorites shows outside the ones everyone talks about. This is in no way any kind of order other than shows I just really enjoyed. Justified I believe you can watch the whole series on Prime or Hulu Succession two seasons so far on HBO Fringe right now you could watch the whole series with…

A visit to the vet

A visit to the vet

My poor Zoey. She’s very upset. Crying at the door. Running back and forth between me and that shut door looking for her brother Marshmallow. He was just taken to the vet by my daughter. They are doing a drive thru vet visit. When she arrives she calls the vet, they come out and pick up Marshy. When he’s done, they’ll bring him back out. Pretty smart in these crazy times. My Marshy is due for his annual checkup. It…

A week after Rituxan

A week after Rituxan

I went through my blog posts because I couldn’t remember how many times I’ve done Rituxan. I made the switch from Ocrevus back to Rituxan for the March 2019 infusion. This is my 3rd time. I was on Rituxan at an earlier time but was forced to change when Ocrevus came out. My insurance company, at the time, would not authorize Rituxan because it was not approved for multiple sclerosis. I than changed insurance companies once again and asked to…

And the daughter reluctantly returns

And the daughter reluctantly returns

My daughter is home. She came home yesterday evening. The puppies were so excited to see her. She hasn’t been been home in a few months. This was the longest stretch of time she hasn’t come home. This is what happens when there is no longer a boyfriend at home she is with. For all the times she told me she was coming home because she missed me, this proves it was always him. Lol, I actually never cared. I…
