Another Accomplishment

Another Accomplishment

Happy Friday. It’s been another rough week for me but I did have another major victory. I was able to get in the shower for the first time since the end of the December. I have a small shower with no bathtub. However, it isn’t flat to the floor. There is a small step that was difficult for me to navigate before I got sick. After the pneumonia, getting over that step was an obstacle I didn’t think I’d ever…

Race against the clock

Race against the clock

I woke up this morning at 6:30 to use the bathroom and ended up waking both dogs. I tried to go back in bed for a bit but my Zoey opened my bedroom door. She likes to use the wee wee pads on the balcony instead of the bedroom. She got back into bed but Minx got up and was on his own wandering around the condo. You know that leaving a 3 month old unsupervised is not a good…

Making my disability work in new environments

Making my disability work in new environments

Not a bad place to be to write a blog post. It is a rare morning because it is actually only my sister and myself awake at this moment. She is in one chair reading her book with a cup of tea, I’m in the other with writing with a cup of coffee. It is so beautiful up here. She lives about 2 1/2 hours away from me in upstate New York. If we continued another 45 minutes we’d be…

Wheelchair walks up the mile

Wheelchair walks up the mile

I had a lovely day yesterday. My sister and brother in law visited with their foster girls who are so precious. I was so excited for them to meet my dogs and see my wide collection of humpties that I love dearly. My dogs were a hit, my humpties showed I was young at heart and they loved being here. Win, win, win ❤️❤️❤️. Was super happy about that. My sister and I took a walk up the nautical mile…

A community in my condo

A community in my condo

There was a sign on the elevator in my building Knowing I was going to be home all week I definitely planned to stop by. I really had no idea what it was about but I’m always up to meeting people in my condo. When I walked in I was the youngest person by about 20 years except for one other person. This get together was to start a little weekly club for all of us home daily. Mostly the…

Things I’m thankful for…

Things I’m thankful for…

Happy Thanksgiving for those in the US. We have a tradition, started by my sister, that we go around the table to say what we are thankful for each year. This year I decided to blog my list. My daughter. She is and will always be the center of my world. She is the gift I get to keep watching evolve each year and change and become the beautiful picture she is today. She is my proudest moment in any…

Social Security Disability review

Social Security Disability review

Every morning I sit down with my cup of coffee, and I decide what I want to write about.  Today being no different than any other day. Marshmallow, of course the snuggling up next to me, and Zoey’s running rampage through the house. All of a sudden Zoey comes out running out of my daughter’s room  with a sneaker in her mouth. Wish I caught the actual action shot but had to settle for this instead. I’m up your Social…

A year since I was put on disability

A year since I was put on disability

Should I say Happy Anniversary to myself? It was an after work doctors appointment January 21, 2016 when he said “ENOUGH”. He knew since the summer before I was getting worse, I was the one in denial. On January 22, 2016 I called my job and said my doctor is putting me out on disability and I never was back.  I kept pushing and pushing to continue to work. I was working part in the building and part at home,…

Goodbye 2016

Goodbye 2016

Dear Universe, A lot happened in 2016. I became disabled in 2016. I stopped working and started the process of both disability and Medicaid. I obtained a 3rd party trust to shield my income. I cashed in my Ira which wasn’t much but gave me a little something. I was approved for disability, Medicaid, the 3rd party trust, and my long term care policy. I was set up financially basically as I was when I was working. I leased a…

What will happen to health insurance now?

What will happen to health insurance now?

Started physical therapy this week. Last time I did physical therapy for my multiple sclerosis was during my very first attack almost 19 years ago. Why? Insurance co-pays.  I could never afford the co-pay to go to physical therapy twice a week, hell I couldn’t afford the co-pay once a week.  I was working full time and was getting buried by my co-pay medical bills.  I have multiple sclerosis so of course all my doctors are specialists which had the…
