Really good multiple sclerosis research news

Really good multiple sclerosis research news

This is the best news article I’ve come along in a long time. It was titled: ‘Holy Grail’ MS discovery could prevent disability using diabetes drug For the first time in ages this talks about stopping the disability not reducing relapses. https://www.sciencefocus.com/news/holy-grail-ms-discovery-could-prevent-disability-using-diabetes-drug/ In MS, the protective coating surrounding nerves known as myelin is damaged causing them to become less energy efficient which makes them vulnerable to further damage and causes disability over time, the MS Society said. < p style=”box-sizing: inherit; margin:…

Nobody likes change

Nobody likes change

After three years, my aid is moving on. She’s changing her hours to work 12 hour shifts each day during the weekend. This way she can make relatively the same hours in less days and be home with her son. With all the uncertainty of the schools new operating hours, who could blame her. I witnessed firsthand what it was like when she had a homeschool her son. It was hard for every parent but exceptionally hard for someone…

I’m a good tired

I’m a good tired

I’m tired. I start a lot of blogs like that, don’t I? I have put myself through an entire month of working out every single day. Was it worth it? Hell yeah!!! I love challenging myself through workouts. I always did. Of course everything is completely modified because of my MS, but it’s still incredibly hard for me. On top of that though, I was busy this week. I had my friend from the building up visiting. I had…

My wheelchair tips from the evaluators

My wheelchair tips from the evaluators

Well my appointment with my OT wheelchair evaluators was good and bad. I was having some issues transferring into my new chair. Having issues with my new wheelchair. The bad was the chair doesn’t get an lower. My therapist explained that I need to work on the ways to make transfers work and keep them safe. They definitely recommend training with a sliding board and with a one on one trainer for transfers. Since I won’t be cleared by my…

Race against the clock

Race against the clock

I woke up this morning at 6:30 to use the bathroom and ended up waking both dogs. I tried to go back in bed for a bit but my Zoey opened my bedroom door. She likes to use the wee wee pads on the balcony instead of the bedroom. She got back into bed but Minx got up and was on his own wandering around the condo. You know that leaving a 3 month old unsupervised is not a good…

Just a Friday morning blog post

Just a Friday morning blog post

Do puppies have a terrible two? If they’re seven years to our one year, does that mean around three months that’s where these terrible two’s would start? Minxs was a pain in the ass yesterday. My daughter had a friend over, the dogs were super excited. As we were making our way to bedtime, they both got all riled up. Eventually Zoey settle down, Minx did not. I tried everything to calm him down, it wasn’t happening. I finally had…

Fatigue, workouts, the MS gym and stuff

Fatigue, workouts, the MS gym and stuff

Good morning to all. I just sat down from my morning exercise. My body certainly feels it but my heart rate didn’t reflex the same results. I have not taken one day off since I started the MS gym program. I just changed my workouts and incorporated the gym too. The last time I didn’t close my exercise circle (the green circle) was back on June 25th. When I complete this week, I will have completed the program I signed…

Having issues with my new wheelchair

Having issues with my new wheelchair

There are so many good things about this wheelchair but unfortunately there are a few bad things. I have been consistently in the new wheelchair now for a couple of weeks. I waited to use it for a couple of weeks after I got it. Between breaking the mirror and Minx being so tiny, I couldn’t do learning a new wheelchair and avoiding him at the same time.New and old. In using the chair I realized some major issues. The…

Beware-Throwing a pity party

I work so hard!!! I workout everyday. I try to incorporate weights to build my muscles and my strength. I try to eat right. I take a shitload of pills to offset all my MS symptoms. I spend more money than I can afford on good vitamins that I take daily. For what??? It gets hot and my body forgets it has any muscles. I suffer fatigue and I can’t do anything on my own. I once again ended up…

Heat and humidity causing such fatigue

Heat and humidity causing such fatigue

It was hot, humid and hazy yesterday in NY. I stayed in the AC the entire day. It didn’t matter, the heat and humidity still found its way into my bones. I had a very tough day. I normally do a 45 minute workout on Sundays but only finished 30. I had to use the bathroom. That was an unsuccessful event. Bad footing caused me to slide down to the floor. Once I was there, I knew I was in…
