Life coaching for people with a chronic illness

Life coaching for people with a chronic illness

Sometimes it is overwhelming dealing with a chronic illness and navigating through daily life. I know I’ve lived there. I use to unleash it all on my mom. She has so much empathy and I adore her but she doesn’t have multiple sclerosis and she didn’t, she couldn’t, fully understand. I was sad for a long time until I changed my thinking and changed my perception on life. I have a life coach that helps me stay on track and…

Post Ocrevus infusion-still kicking my butt

Post Ocrevus infusion-still kicking my butt

Fatigue!!!! That’s the only word I could use. I’ve been exhausted but it’s been in my muscles too. It’s been hard just getting around my condo because of the muscle fatigue. I almost went into my scooter last night. Every step is difficult to take not only in my legs but in my arms holding me up with the walker. I don’t remember feeling this way last time but last time they messed up and split my dose. This was…

Weight, Multiple Sclerosis and me

Weight, Multiple Sclerosis and me

I had my physical yesterday and brought up my favorite topic, weight. Once again I put on a couple of pounds. This has been a very frustrating year for me when it came to weight. My doctor finally made some sense as opposed to just saying it’s your multiple sclerosis. He explained why. Yes, I do swim which is great, but I also sit around quite a bit. As my symptoms have gotten worse, my muscles have atrophied to a…

Keto diet for MS

Keto diet for MS

Wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t extreme. Vegan to Keto, that’s extreme. Why would I even think about this? A movie called the Magic Pill on Netflix. Ironically, it was watching Forks over Knives on Netflix that I became Vegan. My diet isn’t working anymore and hasn’t been working. I’ve been maintaining a ten pound unexplained weight gain following a plant-based diet and tracking on weight watchers. This past week I put on an additional 4 pounds. I don’t eat…

Pain, twitches and spasms oh my!!!

Pain, twitches and spasms oh my!!!

https://www.mstrust.org.uk/news/views-and-comments/neuropathic-pain-invisible-illness Neuropathic pain affects up to 25% of people with MS. It is a consequence of damage to the myelin that surrounds nerves in the central nervous system. Very commonly the pain is not due to physical damage to the nerve but as a result of a physiological change within it. This means that even when the initial cause is treated or removed, the nerve remains permanently changed and the resulting painful symptoms can become a long-term problem. Once present,…

Dysphagia and Multiple Sclerosis

Dysphagia and Multiple Sclerosis

Dysphagia simply put is difficulty swallowing. It means it takes more time for food to travel from your mouth to your stomach. Why this affects people with multiple sclerosis? Muscle weakness once again. The good news is it is seen more in advance stages of the disease but it still can appear at any time. It can be mild or advanced. Hey, it’s MS. It has no set plan of attack. According to WebMD https://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/speech-swallowing Symptoms of a Swallowing Problem…

A quiet Saturday

A quiet Saturday

It’s just me today. Well me Zoey and Marshmallow. The elevator in my building won’t be fixed until sometime next week so I’m a little stuck. I can’t put my scooter together or take it apart by myself. Kind of leaves me with no options for getting downstairs or back upstairs while I’m alone. You know what, I really don’t mind. I’m exhausted. I think I’ve been exhausted for the past two months. I have no complaints being home by…

I’m stuck

I’m stuck

Elevator is still not working. A special part had to be ordered or something. I am stuck in my condo on the fourth floor. I’d be able to get downstairs with my aid. I do better going down. Of course then once I came home I’d be in trouble. If my aid was with me I could use my scooter and go to the first building. No big deal but tonight is my hair night. Meaning I get my hair…

Another nursing assessment today

Another nursing assessment today

The assessment today though is important because it’s with my actual insurance company. I already spoke to my case manager who is so awesome and called me back on her private line. She explained to me if they try to give me less hours not to sign anything. This way the case goes into review and more than just this one nurse assessment has a say in my hours allocated. I’m not nervous because it is what it’s going to…

Back home

Back home

I realized something being away, my home is definitely the easiest place for me. I love my sisters house it is absolutely beautiful. It’s very easy for me to get around on the first floor. However, there is no bathroom with a shower. They made a shower outside which is really cool but it’s a little more difficult for me to get to. It’s difficult for me to navigate her outside property. The outside property is so amazing but getting…
