A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
Biotin a year review

Biotin a year review

If you’ve never read my blog before, I invite you to look through the search box and find my numerous posts on biotin. If you don’t want to take my word, this is an article from the web with the doctor who has been conducting the clinical studies on high dose biotin in multiple sclerosis. https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2017/05/09/medday-new-phase-3-trial-and-belief-in-biotin-potential-to-treat-progressive-ms-interview-with-frederic-sedel/ My MS doctor had read the notes on the clinical studies and started me on biotin back in December of 2016. With biotin being a…

Neurologist check up day, NYC specialist

Neurologist check up day, NYC specialist

Going to the neurologist are usually a bittersweet day. I really like my neurologist in the city, she is a wonderful doctor. I honestly couldn’t ask for more compassionate, caring and understanding for MS.  That being said, there’s limits to what could be done for me. Since seeing her regularly I’m on my third MS drug that I started back in September, which is Ocrevus.  I can say that I was on Rituxan prior to this and the changes only…

I’m a revised vegan

I’m a revised vegan

This will mark my 11 th month being vegan. December is my year anniversary. I went vegan for health reasons, not for the animal cruelty reason. HOWEVER, the only reason I didn’t go because of animal cruelty is because I could NEVER watch something like that and eat again and I know it. I love animals and if that makes me sound foolish or ignorant to the vegan world, I’m sorry.  Anyway, vegan opinions set aside, I made the rash…

Coconut Bean Sprout Curry-Plant Based on a Budget

Coconut Bean Sprout Curry-Plant Based on a Budget

I needed to try new recipes this week now that I joined weight watchers again. It is difficult to be vegan on weight watchers and staying fully vegan might come to an end, but that’s for another blog post. I do want to add I lost 2.6 pounds this week so I’m moving in the right direction. I feel better too. I needed to get back under control. I made this recipe this week putting it over some brown rice….

Good morning sunshine

Good morning sunshine

I’m very chipper this morning. I slept in. Both dogs let me sleep until 8:00. However, most importantly, my leg strength, or I should say what normal strength they have, came back. I stopped using the bathroom a million times throughout the night and I haven’t had any accidents since Thursday. The chances that I really did have a UTI and needed the antibiotics are pretty good. The doctor even said in two days you’ll know because your MS symptoms…

A UTI and some morning BS…TGIF

A UTI and some morning BS…TGIF

I had a rough night on Thursday. I was up every hour to use the bathroom. I’d wake up and not be able to make the six steps to my bathroom before the accident occurred. I had 4 accidents that night. So happy I have a washer and dryer in my apartment. When I got up in the morning I took my dogs downstairs to their dog run. I like to try to walk the steps at least once a…

Multiple Sclerosis complications

Multiple Sclerosis complications

I recently read a blog that actually talked about MS and death https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/unthinkable-death-life-expectancy/ What  struck me on this blog is something that I always say, MS won’t kill me. The blogger wrote, MS won’t directly kill you but MS complications are the cause of many deaths. That got my attention. Never thought of it like that. Made me think of my blog post I wrote… There are serious symptoms with MS that can cause many problems. According to Everyday Health https://www.everydayhealth.com/multiple-sclerosis/guide/ MS…

I’m going spiritual today

I’m going spiritual today

Marianne Williamson had a wonderful quote in her lecture yesterday, “hate recruits and love doesn’t recruit enough.” How different the world would be if people were just nice. Once again another attack happened in NYC a truck driver just mowed down 8 bikers in the name of ISIS. 8 people whose lives were cut short for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Countless others hurt. Such a senseless act that has left families broken, grieving and weeping….

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

I am long passed the days of trick or treating. My daughter is long past those fun days too. This year she went as a playboy bunny big difference from her last year costume of Lilo from Lilo and Stitch. I remember when I dressed her up as a Winnie the Phoo honeypot and she cried until she fell asleep in the car. I still have the pictures of her passed out in that honeypot costume. It’s shocking that it…

Being Vegan on Weight Watchers

Being Vegan on Weight Watchers

This is definitely been a new one for me. I probably have been on and off weight watchers since I’ve been about 10. There’s nothing I really don’t know about dieting, especially the weight watchers plans. However this one actually requires a lot of thought. The current plan, called smart points, is a protein-based plan. Meaning, lean meats are the lowest points.  Carbohydrates, even the whole-grain complex ones, a much higher points. The vegan diet, obviously, does not eat any meats….
