A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
A morning in the life of Marshmallow and Zoey

A morning in the life of Marshmallow and Zoey

I’m coming back in my next life as my own dog, what a life they have. Every morning I wake up and before I even get out of bed, it’s morning puppy time. It’s scratching bellies and behind the ears with smooches on the head. Then it’s yum yum time. A phrase both dogs know means food. Zoey jumps out of bed for the preparation of her yum yums. Marshmallow is getting older, he comes when it’s ready. After breakfast…

The way we were…

The way we were…

I think for anyone that has had a chronic illness for any length of time has sat and remembered what it was like before the illness. Or at least what it was like before it got really bad. We remember when we used to dance, run, or have any  exorbitant amount of energy. We remember when we taught our child maybe to ice skate or ride a bike. Maybe you remember Sunday afternoon hikes up the mountain. All these wonderful…

My week with a cup half empty

My week with a cup half empty

Happy Friday to everyone. All is right in the world again. I am awake, although slightly reluctantly. I’m on my couch with a dog on either side of me. My daughter is home for the weekend. I saw her for a total of 10 minutes yesterday, from the train station back to house before she left again. That’s ok, I’ll see her today. I have an aide coming today. I’m going to get some soup cooked and maybe a vegan…

Thursday dilemma

Thursday dilemma

Woke up to my phone ringing at 6:45. Thinking that it could be my daughter, I rolled to the floor instead of fighting with my stomach and arm muscles to put me in a sitting up position. By the time I got to the phone the answering machine picked up but my phone announces who is calling so I knew it wasn’t my daughter.  They didn’t leave a message but by the name, I realized it was the aide they…

No, I’m not lucky

No, I’m not lucky

There’s a reason I have an aide for eight hours a day. There’s a reason I don’t work anymore. Sometimes I feel like I’m running a scam, that I should be working or I don’t need an aide eight hours a day. Especially when someone says lucky you. Let me explain something to you and myself, I’m not a lucky girl.  I’m not a lucky girl that I’m on full disability and don’t work. I’m not a lucky girl that…

Meditation…quiet the mind

Meditation…quiet the mind

I couldn’t of been more than 10 years old lying on the floor in my dads house listening to someone tell me to relax my toes, my ankles and all my body parts up to my head. It was when she got to the part where we were painting the inside of our mind in black, back-and-forth, back-and-forth, back-and-forth, that something happened. Somehow or another my body seem to float.  I literally felt myself split, that part of me was above…

Las Vegas Shooting

Las Vegas Shooting

I woke up to a text message from my friend asking me when did my mom and step dad leave for Vegas. I replied that they had a Saturday night flight arriving at around midnight. She then asked where they were staying. By this point I knew something was up. They are staying off the strip at various hotels but nothing on the Vegas strip. Then she told me of the shooting. One day later they would have been driving…

One More Light-Linkin Park

One More Light-Linkin Park

This song is my new obsession. It’s so sad, especially that Chester Bennington killed himself and he’s singing. For Linkin Park fans who hate this album, I get it. It’s so NOT Linkin Park. Very commercial but I love it. I find it pop-ish, yes, but it’s fun. This song may be a long depart from Linkin Park Hybrid Theory but maybe it was foreshadowing from Chester Bennington. I had to put another Linkin Park song up today because I woke…
