A sleepless night

A sleepless night

I’ve been up since roughly 4 AM. I couldn’t even tell you why. I think I’ve watched an entire season of friends before I finally gave up and got out of bed. I suffer from headaches all week this week I’ve been home for three days because my aid’s son was sick. I’ve watched a lot of Netflix including part 2 of Making a Murderer, the Staircase and the Ted Bundy Tapes. I worked out every single morning even with…

Tony Horton P90X, here I come

Tony Horton P90X, here I come

It’s been a while but I’m coming back to my P90X workouts from Tony Horton at Beachbody. https://www.beachbody.com. I have been a fan of Beachbody and their trainers for a long time but my favorite was always the P90X routine. I had these great bowflex adjustable weights These weights were great you could dial them from 5 to 52 pounds each. This was wonderful when I could lift a 20lb press or do squats with 30lbs in each hand, not…

You can’t walk but you can swim

You can’t walk but you can swim

Those were the words this morning from my mom as she watched me swim in the pool. The pool which was so cold I might add. I was determined to do some laps this morning despite the near frigid temperature. I still swam for roughly a half hour. My mom, the sport she is, got in the frigid water with me so we could walk the pool. This particular pool gets shallow towards the middle and deeper towards the end….

It’s pouring

It’s pouring

First day on vacation and it is completely pouring outside. Like monsoon pouring at times. My poor daughter is wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants trying to stay warm. She’s had a headache all day partly from her cold and partly because of the weather. I’m sneezing now too which isn’t good. I too felt sick and last night I had to sleep in a bathrobe because I was freezing. Not off to the finest first day here but we are…

January 2

January 2

Well it’s back to the normal everyday routine. The holidays are over. They went fast this year. Actually the year went fast. 2019 is officially the new calendar year. Do you feel any different? I didn’t think so. I was back in the pool first thing this morning. It isn’t too cold in New York so getting out of the pool wasn’t too bad. Felt good to be back in the water. Today we have to cook. Since going back…

Goodbye 2018

Goodbye 2018

2018 wasn’t a bad year for me. Yesterday marked the day I moved into my condo a year ago. Although it was technically 2017, it was really days of complete chaos until 2018. I wake up to this view to look at. Trust me it looks a lot better than my picture shows. I learned that I can still swim. I have spent a lot of time in my pool. I was fortunate to have an indoor pool in my…

Brrrr it’s cold in here

Brrrr it’s cold in here

Well actually it’s cold out of here and by that I mean the pool. I go down and it’s all warm. I get into the pool and it’s nice and warm and I get out and I’m frozen. I think it is once again a big thanks to my MS that once that chill sets in I can’t get warm until I hit a hot shower. That leads to overheating and acting up my other MS issues. Not the most…

Getting back into routine

Getting back into routine

It’s been a while, seems like months, but it’s only been a few weeks. I am finally getting back into my weekly routine. I’ve said this many times in my blogs, I need the stability of the routine. It helps me function and cope in each given week. When I’m out of routine I feel a little lost. My MS may even act up and become cumbersome. Might be part of the reason for my lethargic ways these last few…

An early birthday present

An early birthday present

I bought myself a gift, another Fitbit. This one is the flex2 which can track swimming. One can argue the fact that tracking steps and activity for someone who has multiple sclerosis is kind of pointless, and it may be true but I wanted to see. I am curious on a few points: sleeping, activity and steps. I used to always track how well I slept through my Fitbit. It shows how much you were restless and how much you…

Yesterday was a good day

Yesterday was a good day

It’s important to talk about the good days when you have MS as it is the bad days. It started out in my pool. I swam my 25 laps. I’m happy to say that I’ve been back to swimming my 25 laps for about 2 weeks now. Took a long time for my body to bounce back from the set back I had in July with cellulitis but it finally did. Also I’ve been drinking water during my swimming and…
