A choice to exercise

A choice to exercise

Happy Monday. My aid just told me I look tired. I’m always tired. I can sleep for 24 hours and I’d still wake up tired. I just did my little cardio workout but i was tired. It doesn’t ever matter, I’ve just learned to push through the feeling as I have always done. I bought a treadmill way back when I was still married living in my house. It was used for a total of a month tops before it…

Making my disability work in new environments

Making my disability work in new environments

Not a bad place to be to write a blog post. It is a rare morning because it is actually only my sister and myself awake at this moment. She is in one chair reading her book with a cup of tea, I’m in the other with writing with a cup of coffee. It is so beautiful up here. She lives about 2 1/2 hours away from me in upstate New York. If we continued another 45 minutes we’d be…

I swam a mile without proof

I swam a mile without proof

I finally did it. I counted and hit my goal of 35 laps which would equal 70 lengths and exactly 1 mile swam in my pool. HUGE difference than Tuesday when I barely made it 30 minutes swimming before my arms gave out. That day I couldn’t even get out of the pool. Go figure. It is just proof of of the good and bad days of multiple sclerosis. I was so excited hitting my goal, this was a big…

Grateful for a good day

Grateful for a good day

Had a great morning, slept late. That is always a good thing. I’ve been tired. I’m always tired, that isn’t anything new. I just needed to sleep. I went into bed at 9 was asleep by 9:30 and slept until after 9AM. That is a good night. I went swimming right after I got up this morning. That is my Fitbit readout. Not a bad workout. Not 100% sure how the lengths are measured but I’ll take a 68 with…

Exercising

Exercising

And we’re back, it’s Monday again, doesn’t it seem to happen so fast? I just find the weekends go so quick and I don’t even work anymore. I’m not really complaining because each day is similar for me but on the weekends I’m kind of my own which I generally come to appreciate. I won’t lie, the weekends can be very difficult because no one is usually here. So I lie very very low and usually do very little. I…

I’m a MS Warrior

I’m a MS Warrior

It took me a long time to recover yesterday after swimming Back in the pool. I knew it would but my recovery time keeps getting longer and longer. I’m not looking forward to the day I don’t recover because I’m not planning on ever stopping exercising. I might have had to revise it drastically but I still do something to help myself move at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. Unfortunately the rest of the time I’m quite sedentary….

Back in the pool

Back in the pool

I went swimming this morning for the first time in months. It isn’t that I don’t love swimming, because I do. It is difficult to shower and change and do my hair etc. It takes a lot of energy to do all those things and I deplete most of my energy in the pool. Today I knew I wasn’t doing anything other than the pool so I knew it would be a good day. I swam 52 minutes and 58…

Working out with MS

Working out with MS

Overheated and under slept. Not a good combo to wake up with. I shut my AC off last night because I was cold. Of course it was ridiculously humid when I got out of bed. I had hours to turn it back on. I was up between the hours of 4-6AM and the time I feel back to sleep between 6-8 weren’t restful. Needless to say I woke up behind the MS eight ball already dragging my feet and having…

A honest look at an MS bad day

A honest look at an MS bad day

I was fatigued yesterday doing my normal routine in the morning which involves cleaning up after my dogs, feeding them and morning grooming for me. I had a goal to workout. I knew I should have waited a bit since i was already fatigued but I wanted to get it over with. On top of this my stomach was bothering me. I know better for all these reasons but I pushed it anyway. Within 10 minutes of my chair Zumba…

Go me…a good MS day!!!!

Go me…a good MS day!!!!

I went in my pool yesterday for the first time in almost 4 months. It’s the first time I even swam since the middle of January when I was away. My elevator was broken for so long and it is my elevator that is attached to the building with the pool. For me in my wheelchair, I have to go outside to get to the pool when my elevator is broken because otherwise there are steps. Other people wouldn’t have…
