Steroids day 1

Steroids day 1

Well unfortunately the nurse didn’t get here until after 6pm. I had a heating pad on my arm from 3 on because they said they’d be back by then. I get things happen but why can’t you have the common curtesy to call and let someone know. I ended up burning myself I didn’t feel anything. This morning the marks didn’t go away. It didn’t even help the stuck me twice and the veins didn’t hold. The third stick in…

A break in the clouds

A break in the clouds

I woke up early on Saturday morning. I decided to use one of my Zumba cds and exercise in my chair. I use to to stand for the entire work out. Then I’d sit for every other song. It became I’d push through standing for three songs in the beginning and sitting for the rest. Now I barely stand for one song. Yet I still do it and for that I’m proud. I knew it would take me at least…

National MS Society Invests in Clinical Development of Human Antibody for Progressive forms of MS

National MS Society Invests in Clinical Development of Human Antibody for Progressive forms of MS

Another great article found in multiple sclerosis news today by Patricia Inacio, PHD. Fast Forward, a nonprofit subsidiary of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, will invest up to $330,000 to advance the clinical development of an antibody that was shown to lessen inflammation and nerve cell damage in a multiple sclerosis (MS) mouse model. The funding will help develop the antibody (a protein the immune system uses to neutralize pathogens such as bacteria and viruses) in order to have properties more similar to those…

Anxiety and Multiple Sclerosis

Anxiety and Multiple Sclerosis

I am happy to be home. I slept a lot over the weekend. I was so tired, still am. This morning will be my first day back in the pool. I was happy to be back. Was able to do my 25 laps. I like routine and I’ve noticed that I get anxiety when I’m out of routine. I get major anxiety packing to go away which completely affects all my MS symptoms. Every time I go away somewhere, no…

Proud to be with the spirit junkies

Proud to be with the spirit junkies

Well I can certainly say today’s content is much lighter than yesterday’s. We are discussing marketing and the online presence. Hey, I got that. I write a blog. It’s all about website and blog related information. Right up my alley, no tears. Yet I walked out of the meeting pretty cranky. The room we used was so hot. Every time a window was opened, some one closed it minutes later. Here I am in a very light shirt overheating. Overheating…

I’m getting tired of fighting

I’m getting tired of fighting

What started out as a good day ended pretty horrible. Getting the last few items together for me trip, I ended up severely exhausted. I don’t even know if exhausted is the right word. I had to get something in my daughter’s closet for her and it required me to go to the floor. I really knew this was bad because I was so tired, I just didn’t realize how bad. I couldn’t get up. I didn’t even have the…

A good nights sleep

A good nights sleep

When was the last time you had one of those? I went into bed my usual time, around 9:30. I usually watch tv a little before closing my eyes. I feel asleep and slept until 3:30 before I had to use the bathroom. That is a record for me. A long stretch. I feel back asleep and woke up at 7:30 and I was awake and refreshed not groggy and still sleepy as I have been for many mornings now….

Mahjong fun with friends and good for the brain

Mahjong fun with friends and good for the brain

What fun yesterday was. My MS friends and I joined a beginners class to learn mahjong. I must admit I did have a lesson before with my mom and my girlfriends which was a lot of fun but it was difficult organizing everyone to get together again. I’ve been wanting to learn mahjong for a long time. I originally brought the idea up to my MS girls because we are around during the day and I thought it would be…

Should I take Ocrevus?

Should I take Ocrevus?

If your doctor has suggested Ocrevus you are certainly moving up the ladder of disease modifying drugs for multiple sclerosis. With each of the IV drugs especially come side effect risks. Ocrevus is no exception. The most serious they show is: Risk of cancers (malignancies) including breast cancer. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions about standard screening guidelines for breast cancer. That’s a pretty serious risk to consider. They also talk about PML Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy. This is the brain infection caused…

An elusive molecule that sparks Multiple Sclerosis article from Science Magazine

An elusive molecule that sparks Multiple Sclerosis article from Science Magazine

A very interesting article found on the web from Science Magazine written by Mitch Leslie. This article has been copied below. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/10/elusive-molecule-sparks-multiple-sclerosis-may-have-been-found Our immune cells normally pounce on intruding bacteria and viruses. But in multiple sclerosis (MS), immune cells target the nervous system instead. Now, researchers may have pinpointed a long-sought molecule called a self-antigen that provokes these attacks, pointing a way toward potential new treatments. “The work is monumental, and it’s tantalizing,” says neuroimmunologist Hartmut Wekerle of the Max…
