A Rainy Day in NY

A Rainy Day in NY

Does rain ever affect your multiple sclerosis? I find lately that the moisture in the air does have a small impact on my day. It’s certainly plays a role with my migraines. I’ve had headaches basically all week. However today they are expecting a nor’easter. New York State agencies are gearing up for a Thursday-to-Saturday nor’easter that could drench and blast Long Island with rain and high winds and envelop upstate with snow, officials said. From the moment I woke…

Patting myself on the back

Patting myself on the back

Go me!!!! My aid couldn’t come today, so I couldn’t go to the pool. I guess I could’ve asked my daughter to come with me, she would have, but I didn’t want to bother her. Instead I got my Beachbody programs on my TV and I did my workout. I haven’t done my Beachbody workouts probably since July, thanks to the shoulder tendinitis. I always refused to let MS tell me what I couldn’t do and amazingly it was my…

Monday Ramblings from multiple experiences

Monday Ramblings from multiple experiences

It’s usually my morning meditation that I decide what I want to blog about. This morning I fell back asleep during my meditation and I never got an idea of what I wanted to say. Right now I’m just staring at the water, hoping something will come to me. When your blog every day, I have to admit, some of my blogs become pointless. I have a feeling this is going to be one of them. I can tell you…

Packing to unpack moving in 7 weeks

Packing to unpack moving in 7 weeks

Now that I’m moving, I have to pack. I went from my house to an apartment. It was a lot of downsizing. Now I’m going from an apartment to a condo. So I have to downsize again. I thought it was hard moving from a three bedroom house with a full dining room, living room, kitchen and den into a two bedroom apartment. Now I have to go from a two bedroom apartment with a huge living room, kitchen, crawlspace,…

No, I’m not lucky

No, I’m not lucky

There’s a reason I have an aide for eight hours a day. There’s a reason I don’t work anymore. Sometimes I feel like I’m running a scam, that I should be working or I don’t need an aide eight hours a day. Especially when someone says lucky you. Let me explain something to you and myself, I’m not a lucky girl.  I’m not a lucky girl that I’m on full disability and don’t work. I’m not a lucky girl that…

Yup, another day in my life…

I don’t like to complain in my blog. Ok, sometimes I do. I live with a chronic illness of multiple sclerosis everyday, eventually you break and post your disgust. I’d like to say that I don’t do it often. That being said, I have to complain this morning over just some stupid stuff that is really all resolved now. It would have been my blog post yesterday but I had that migraine and I just couldn’t focus to write. It…

I am a happy sad

I am a happy sad

That is how my friend explained it to me yesterday when I told her how I felt. I’m very excited for my daughter, my college years were some of my favorite years. It’s just has been her and I for so long. My divorce was started in August of 2006. He moved out and it was Mikayla and I and the pets. 11 years and now she’s growing up off to live in NYC and go to school. I know…

My week and college bound daughter

My week and college bound daughter

This will be a crazy week. My daughter just came home yesterday. She went up to my sister for a long weekend with her boyfriend that went really well. All I know is it’s 9:00am and she’s already out of the house to hang with him before driving him to work. She moves into her NYC dorm this week and by dorm, I mean the New Yorker Hotel. This “dorm” comes complete with tv, refrigerator, fitness room, 24 hour doorman…

First week with the nursing aide

First week with the nursing aide

Last year at this time, my first blog post said under construction. I hope you enjoyed my weeks worth of revelations of the past year of blog posts. This week, I thought it was gonna be more of a downtime week, didn’t turn out that way. My aide started on Wednesday.  Originally I asked for three days three hours a day. The recommendation of the nurse evaluator was for seven days. My case manager and I decided on three days…

I was approved for a nursing aide

I was approved for a nursing aide

I’ve been so involved with the transition to Ocrevus, that I haven’t talked about that I was approved for the nursing aide by my insurance. The evaluator put the request in for 7 days but I really didn’t want an aide 7 days a week. I wouldn’t even know what to do with someone here that many days.  My caseworker told me, with the multiple sclerosis diagnosis, it is easy to get the increases if needed. I decided on 3 days a week…
