A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
Vegan myths blood work proof

Vegan myths blood work proof

When I decided to eat vegan, I heard from many people; you won’t get enough protein, you be deficient in vitamins or you’ll be hungry because you can only eat salad. I’m now vegan for 9 months and I have proof that none of that is true. When I first became vegan I did loose about 8 pounds but that weight has returned and doesn’t fluctuate much. I can attribute some of that to a change in exercise due to…

Life with MS and living alone, I’m a fall risk

Life with MS and living alone, I’m a fall risk

OK, maybe this is a little too premature. I mean this is only day two of being home without my daughter. I had to run the first errand today that normally she would run for me.  Needed money at the bank. To take my walker out to go to the ATM that’s just way too many steps. So I wrote a check out to myself and cashed it at the drive-thru teller window, it worked. I have to be smart…

With 2 minutes to spare, my daughter made it to her first college class

With 2 minutes to spare, my daughter made it to her first college class

It really started last night.  Because my daughters is deaf and wears cochlear implants that come off at night, she needs an alarm clock that will shake the bed to wake her up. The school has one that they put in the room that is tied to the fire alarm but we had no idea how to work it. So we took her alarm clock from home that she’s used for the past 10 years.  She brings it to her…

Ocrevus infusion cancelled

Ocrevus infusion cancelled

That was the message I received on my answering machine at 3:42 on Friday afternoon. I, of course, didn’t hear this message until late Friday night because I was in the city moving my daughter into her dorm. Of course this was Friday, they are closed Saturday and Sunday and my infusion was scheduled for Monday. Of course they offered no explanation as to WHY this was cancelled…was there another insurance issue? Drug issue? No idea. Just your appointment on…

Good, goodbye-Linkin Park

Good, goodbye-Linkin Park

From Linkin Park’s new album which is nothing like Linkin Park, yet I love it…go figure. I find myself singing this song all day once I hear it. It is the closest song on the album to old Linkin Park. As always with Linkin Park, they can be the soundtrack to any given moment in my life. That’s why I love them. So say goodbye and hit the road Pack it up and disappear You better have some place to…

These things need a road test, drivers licenses and renewals

These things need a road test, drivers licenses and renewals

I’ve had my travel scooter I use for years. It’s very light, folds into three parts and is perfect when I need to travel somewhere. However it is nothing like my electronic wheelchair. That one is much heavier, turns on a dime, but isn’t portable because each part is extremely heavy. Yesterday was day one with my daughter in the city. Her and I took my travel scooter by train. When I get into Pennsylvania Station, it’s always busy with people…

I am a happy sad

I am a happy sad

That is how my friend explained it to me yesterday when I told her how I felt. I’m very excited for my daughter, my college years were some of my favorite years. It’s just has been her and I for so long. My divorce was started in August of 2006. He moved out and it was Mikayla and I and the pets. 11 years and now she’s growing up off to live in NYC and go to school. I know…

How Roche Tweaked an Aging Drug to Keep Profits Rolling In – Bloomberg

How Roche Tweaked an Aging Drug to Keep Profits Rolling In – Bloomberg

I blogged about this months ago. What’s amazing and messed up is I couldn’t get my insurance to pay for Rituxan forcing me to go on to Ocrevus when it cost so much more. I thank my stepmom for sending this to me this morning. It makes no difference but shows how the big business of the pharmaceutical world works. Is it ever only about the disease…   https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-08-23/how-roche-tweaked-an-aging-drug-to-keep-profits-rolling-in?cmpId=flipboard

A Course in Miracles

A Course in Miracles

They have an App!!! Where was this thing last year. It has the entire workbook on it. What really is great about it is the settings. Everyday the workbook has lessons and each lesson has a set interval of practices throughout the day. The app is set to know based on which days lesson you are on, what the interval schedule. When the reminders are turned on, it automatically chimes at each scheduled interval. You can, of course change, the…

Not one of my finer moments

Not one of my finer moments

Well I can definitively say that chip on my shoulder I work so hard to get rid of has not disappeared. I was having dinner last night with a friend and her son. My daughter has been friends with him since kindergarten. They have a brother and sister type of relationship and his mom and I have spent so many Friday and Saturday nights out together that we have so many memories to laugh about. Anyway, I drove my daughter…
