A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
Goodbye Scale

Goodbye Scale

Today is the first day I’m going out in a week. Between my stomach issues and the excessive heat I’ve been home bound. I can’t even complain about it because I felt terrible for a good portion of those days. I was happy to have my family support and the unconditional love of my dogs. My weight shot back up, everything I lost over the last month is back plus a pound or two. I spoke to both neurologists and…

Mavenclad for multiple sclerosis

Mavenclad for multiple sclerosis

I had a visual appointment with my MS specialist yesterday. She is the one who prescribes and advises on my main MS drug therapy. Currently I am on Rituxan. The question of my disability getting worse really isn’t a question, it is a fact. We’ve discussed other drugs but unfortunately the one she was waiting for is still a few years off. That’s the Ibudilast. She did yesterday for the first time mention Mavenclad. In all honesty I didn’t know…

Finally relief

Finally relief

So after my gastroenterologist visit I was given stuff to do to “clean me out” Gastroenterologist visit. This is the same kind of prep for a colonoscopy. I had to take magnesium citrate and I was so nervous about having an accident. I took it and waited, and waited, and waited. This is supposed to work within 30 minutes to 3 hours. Eight hours later nothing. Finally the following morning I went a little, far from the “cleaned out” goal….

I love my mom

I love my mom

I just hung the phone up with my mom. It’s 9:39 in the morning. She was on her way to a clients house to teach a bridge lesson with my stepdad. Whenever my mom is in her car alone going just about anywhere beyond a five minute distance she calls me to keep her company. We’ve been doing this for years. She use to call me at work although sometimes those conversations in the morning would be cut short based…

My handicap accessible bathroom

My handicap accessible bathroom

I had to get work done in my condo. I needed to make my bathroom handicap accessible. It is inside. I have a grab bar and a stall shower but the doorway was so small I couldn’t get my walker in let alone my wheelchair. It was on the list of things to do to make my life at home more accessible. I have two bathrooms in my condo. I usually use my daughter’s because I keep my bedroom door…

Gastroenterologist visit

Gastroenterologist visit

I have to say this was a really nice office. The whole staff was super nice but the doctor was extremely nice. He spent a lot of time with me discussing the issues with constipation and multiple sclerosis. What a nice man he was. After a lengthy conversation together, the diagnosis was chronic constipation. Nothing shocking there, I knew that as did my referring neurologist. It was what should we do about it that needed an answer. He asked me…

Family comes in all forms

Family comes in all forms

Sometimes some of the closest people to you might not be related to you. Many people have friends in this position or people they met when they were very young but never lost contact with. I’m fortunate to have that with a few people myself. I have that with my ex boyfriend’s family and with my aid. My extended family from my ex is so good to me and I truly love each of them. I was always close with…

The weight of MSi

The weight of MSi

I feel a little down since my neurologist appointment the other day. I haven’t shaken it off. I’m not down about having MS, I’m down about MS causing me to gain weight. Between the medicine, my age and lack of physical ability I can’t control my weight and I am very sad. I spent my entire life battling my weight. I was always up and down on the scale since I was a teenager. I’ve read about and tried every…
