When in doubt, blame multiple sclerosis

When in doubt, blame multiple sclerosis

When I first was diagnosed, maybe in the first 10 years, I have to admit any little thing I felt I used to think immediately it was the multiple sclerosis. It took me a while to kind of know how MS showed in my body, really what MS was, and how it was going to affect me. Now that it’s been 20 years, I think what I find amazing is when other doctors don’t have an answer so they blame…

Partly sunny humid Florida

Partly sunny humid Florida

It’s a little warm in Florida. Great for most people, not so much for this MS patient. I purposely come down in January or early February because the weather is great. 70 something by day 60 something by night. Not this trip. It’s 80 degrees and a little humid down here. At night it’s a cooling 78. I realized no way could I do my Beachbody exercise program. The house is too hot and outside is too hot. I said…

Physical therapy and exercise with MS

Physical therapy and exercise with MS

It’s that day again…Monday. It comes quickly, doesn’t it? It starts my week to even though I don’t go to work anymore. I start each Monday with physical therapy again. Let me explain physical therapy. Physical therapy is like exercise. I hate it, but I know it’s important and it helps. Therefore I do it with a smile each time. You know those endorphins you are supposed to get when you work out? In the eight years I worked out…

Patting myself on the back

Patting myself on the back

Go me!!!! My aid couldn’t come today, so I couldn’t go to the pool. I guess I could’ve asked my daughter to come with me, she would have, but I didn’t want to bother her. Instead I got my Beachbody programs on my TV and I did my workout. I haven’t done my Beachbody workouts probably since July, thanks to the shoulder tendinitis. I always refused to let MS tell me what I couldn’t do and amazingly it was my…

Weigh-in day

Weigh-in day

Happy Saturday. So I had to change my subscription at weight watchers to online only. It made no sense, at this point, for me to keep going just to weigh in. My scale at home always match their scale to the point and I never stay for the meeting anyway. Since my three month subscription was up and I don’t want to quit, I figured it was a good switch and wasn’t as expensive. Since I started weight watchers on…

Reviewing DoTerra vitality pack

Reviewing DoTerra vitality pack

Good morning and happy Wednesday, middle of the week, hump day. I didn’t have my view yesterday. It was so much fog out here I couldn’t even see the water. Today I can see the water so I am automatically happy. Sitting down with both of my dogs on my lap and feeling good. I started taking the DoTerra vitality vitamins and supplements over a week ago. My review so far is it’s a lot of pills. However, for me,…

Exercise in a pool for MS

Exercise in a pool for MS

I went in the pool. Finally!!! I was the only one in there. I can’t swim anymore. My legs can’t kick. My legs actually can’t even get high enough in the water and I usually end up going under. The truth is I probably could do more but I was trying not to get my hair wet. Let’s be real, with multiple sclerosis there’s only so much energy I have. To go in the pool for the first time in…

Monday Ramblings from multiple experiences

Monday Ramblings from multiple experiences

It’s usually my morning meditation that I decide what I want to blog about. This morning I fell back asleep during my meditation and I never got an idea of what I wanted to say. Right now I’m just staring at the water, hoping something will come to me. When your blog every day, I have to admit, some of my blogs become pointless. I have a feeling this is going to be one of them. I can tell you…

Tendonitis go away

Tendonitis go away

I worked out yesterday for the first time in a month. I was trying to really give my shoulder the time to heal, as recommended by my orthopedic doctor and my physical therapist. I’ve been suffering for almost a year now with tendonitis. My last appointment with the doctor was in early June and I received another cortisone shot. The shots definitely help but can only be given once every 3-4 months and even then is not a great solution….

Why continue to exercise with multiple sclerosis

Why continue to exercise with multiple sclerosis

“Exercise is essential not just for overall well-being, but also to help manage symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS). In fact, exercise might even slow progression of the disease, according to a 2012 review published in Therapeutic Advances in Neurological Disorders.” This was according to everyday health. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society says basically the same thing and adds, “An exercise program needs to fit the capabilities and limitations of the individual. It may need to be adjusted as changes occur in…
