My MRI epiphanies and me

My MRI epiphanies and me

I’m scheduled for an MRI today I am looking forward to it. I think I touched upon this topic one other time but since I haven’t had an MRI since I started blogging, I’m talking about it again. Why do I like going to an MRI?  I can tell you it’s not for the results. I’ve had multiple sclerosis for 19 years, the MRI’s show what they are going to show. However, I used to get them on average two…

The annoying but harmless guy in physical therapy

The annoying but harmless guy in physical therapy

I’ve been going to physical therapy since November 2016. The way my insurance works is I get 20 calendar visits per year.  I started in 2016 so it just worked out that I was able to do many months in a row. My physical therapy actually runs an amazing program that after this  physical therapy set up, I could pay a monthly fee and use everything in the gym, only giving up with the physical therapist actually have to do, which…

Good morning Monday

Good morning Monday

it’s the beginning of another week. Kind of strange when you don’t work because you’re weeks don’t normally run like a workday week. However every Monday is physical therapy and my daughter is back to school so I still consider it the start of the week.  March is my last month of physical therapy, then it becomes a self-pay. They run a really great program called strive. You pay a monthly fee and you can use the gym and equipment…

Dating with Multiple Sclerosis, when I’m ready

Dating with Multiple Sclerosis, when I’m ready

For the first time at probably two months I answered someone on match.com. I’m still under the same feeling that I don’t want to date, so I don’t really know why I reply, but her did.  The conversation went back-and-forth for a bit and then I asked the question; did you actually read my profile, are you aware that I have a mess and I use a walker? Silence!!! I can’t say that I didn’t purposely say that for a…

What is a multiple sclerosis good day?

What is a multiple sclerosis good day?

What is a multiple sclerosis good day? It’s obviously different for everybody.  Everybody has different symptoms, different challenges, different feelings and different things that they deal with in their daily life. So unfortunately, I can’t speak for everybody, I can only give my opinion. I want to say that I feel that anybody that has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis is a warrior.  If you’re newly diagnosed, and you’ve come through your relapse, you might have come off the battlefield, for now….

A multiple sclerosis life coach

A multiple sclerosis life coach

When you go to group meetings on the specific subjects, normally you talk about that subject. When I joined my MS support group,  I guess I thought it would be more of a round circle kind of discussion group. I’ve definitely have walked away with information that is very useful.  I’ve made friends that have been a wonderful additions.  I just thought it would be more of a support group of people talking of issues, frustrations and feelings. I didn’t…

The nor’easter means I’m home bound

The nor’easter means I’m home bound

New York and the surrounding area is expecting a nor’easter tomorrow. Basically it means that everyone in the tri-state area makes French toast. You can’t find at the local supermarket eggs, milk or bread. I’ve lived in New York my whole life. I’ve  been through my share of the nor’easter’s, hurricanes, rainstorms, and even windstorms. I have yet  to see a time where we were unable to get a food delivery made to the local store to stock their shelves….

This is secondary progressive MS

This is secondary progressive MS

I said in previous posts something was brewing with my MS lately, and unfortunately it still is. A quick note to my mom, if your about to read this, while in your hut, on a beautiful beach,on your vacation, I’m fine. I’m doing what I always do, accept, adjust, adapt. Well things aren’t so great MS wise, I wish I can say they were. Sometimes I wonder, did things get worse because I stopped working? Was that constant push on…

Migraines with multiple sclerosis

Migraines with multiple sclerosis

This is the strangest topic with multiple sclerosis because migraines themselves are a very tough thing to medically see and explain. Migraines don’t show up on any MRI, blood work or Cat Scan. Doctor’s go solely on the patients account of the symptoms. The National Multiple Sclerosis Societyhttp://www.nationalmssociety.org/Symptoms-Diagnosis/MS-Symptoms/Headache  says this about headaches: Although headache is not a common symptom of MS, some reports suggest that people with MS have an increased incidence of certain types of headache. One report noted…
