No joke, I’ve fallen again

No joke, I’ve fallen again

Omg it happened again yesterday where I fell to the floor but this time it wasn’t so comical. I was beyond exhausted coming home from mahjong. It even took me a couple of minutes to get from my wheelchair to the drivers seat. Driving isn’t an issue for me because the muscles required for that weren’t the muscles that were the cause of exhaustion. I know my dad is reading this and he neither understands that or feels comfortable with…

Oops I did it again

Oops I did it again

Another nasty fall on Saturday morning. I took off the towel rack in my daughter’s bathroom for the second time. My contractor asked if I wanted to install a more secure bar like I have in my own bathroom and like an idiot I declined. Now I asked for the more secure bar to installed next time he is here. In the meantime I am using my own bathroom which both my wheelchair can get in and has the safety…

Apple Watch here I come

Apple Watch here I come

Down I went. I was in the wheelchair all day. I walked with the walker for all of 5 steps before I missed stepped. I ended up smacking my head into three surfaces on the way down to land with the walker on top of me and my ass in the dogs water bowl. There I was stuck and dazed trying to roll myself over to somehow get up. That took longer than I care to admit. When I achieved…

Ocrevus and the compromised immune system

Ocrevus and the compromised immune system

I’m happy to report I was discharged from the hospital last night. One thing I know, from my career working in nursing homes, hospitals like to discharge on Friday to make room for the weekend influx. The infection disease doctor would have held me to today but I really wanted to go and the main doctor was for it. So what did I learn from this? First of all this happened from a simple fall. The fall gave me a…

Still in hospital but doing better

Still in hospital but doing better

I slept last night. That makes a huge difference. I also got them to stop the saline drip that wasn’t necessary and truthfully was torture for an MS patient with bladder issues. I was peeing every 20-30 minutes yesterday. I took a second bladder urgency pill I am prescribed last night which helped me sleep and cut the bathroom trips down to every few hours. I also used a commode next to my bed. It just went smoother. The doctor…

Live from my hospital bed

Live from my hospital bed

So I ended up being admitted to the hospital. MS for 20 years and a little fall causes cellulitis and a skin infection and I ended up admitted. Last time I spent a night in a hospital was 19 years ago giving birth to my daughter. Same hospital I might add. I had a horrible night because of all the fluids they are pumping in my veins via IV caused me to need the bathroom often. Wouldn’t be terrible if…

A swollen calf, cellulitis, a fall and MS

A swollen calf, cellulitis, a fall and MS

I’d love to say my saga is over, but I have a very bad feeling it’s not. I’ve been on my antibiotics for two days and the pain, which i thought subsided slightly, has not and my calf has swelled up tremendously. That’s causing a lot of pain. Something is very wrong!!! I think I’m going to have to go back to the ER later. I know this is crazy but they’re coming to do my windows this morning and…

Another afternoon in the ER

Another afternoon in the ER

I knew I should’ve gone to one of the urgent care is instead of going to my actual doctor. He was concerned that the bump/bruise I had on my knee not only had an infection, but the infection could’ve reached my knee joint. If that was the case I would’ve needed IV antibiotics and would’ve had to be in the hospital for a couple of days. From the office he sent me right to the ER. What started as a…

Fall Risk

Fall Risk

I have a label. Not really the label I would’ve liked, but it’s mine. For the one or two times I’ve been in the emergency room I have the bracelet labeling me a fall risk. On my nursing assessment I’m labeled a fall risk. My recent aid agency evaluation I have bright neon yellow stickers on all my papers. I’m a fall risk and I have the cuts and bruises to prove it. I’m always bruised somewhere, usually my knees…

MS fall frustration

MS fall frustration

It’s Sunday and I usually post a song or a recipe. I kind of take the day off with the blog. However today I’m gonna write a quick post about falling. I still fall a lot. I walk with a walker all the time but I still have moments that I can explain I just lose balance. I was on the side of my bed, cleaning up my dog area, my bed and the wall right next to me and…
