FOMO

FOMO

Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) this was a good topic of conversation last night at dinner with my good friend Sharon. Ten years ago we’d push ourselves to go out ever night we could for that fear of missing out. Nothing was worse than hearing the next day about an amazing night that you weren’t a part of, even worse were the inside jokes that came from that one night you missed. Sharon said it best, she let go of…

A fun day

A fun day

Yesterday was a fun day. My mahjong friends came by me and we played mahjong all afternoon. My mom came later to teach us how to form a hand faster. It was just a nice day. We played in my condo meeting room. It is this huge room with a kitchen, one large bookshelf filled with books, tons of chairs and one long table because the only time this room is used is for condo meetings twice a year. It…

Things that go twitch in the night

Things that go twitch in the night

I woke this morning with my twitches. It started up by my pelvic/hip area on the left side getting this feeling of an electric pulse. That pulse then traveled down my leg causing instant paralysis and flexing all the way to my toe. Then it stopped and released until the next pulse hit. They came every 10 minutes until I finally got up because sleeping wasn’t happening anymore. I take all my medicine at night so I can stop any…

Weird MS symptoms are my normal

Weird MS symptoms are my normal

Do you get those weird symptoms from MS? I’ve blogged about them before but sometimes they come out of nowhere and they are so annoying. Today it is like my bra is too tight and it’s cutting into the left side under my breast. Wouldn’t be so wacky if it didn’t start while I was in bed not wearing a bra!!!! Only on the left side too never the right. I’ve had this crazy feeling before actually many times and…

Goodbye Scale

Goodbye Scale

Today is the first day I’m going out in a week. Between my stomach issues and the excessive heat I’ve been home bound. I can’t even complain about it because I felt terrible for a good portion of those days. I was happy to have my family support and the unconditional love of my dogs. My weight shot back up, everything I lost over the last month is back plus a pound or two. I spoke to both neurologists and…

Mavenclad for multiple sclerosis

Mavenclad for multiple sclerosis

I had a visual appointment with my MS specialist yesterday. She is the one who prescribes and advises on my main MS drug therapy. Currently I am on Rituxan. The question of my disability getting worse really isn’t a question, it is a fact. We’ve discussed other drugs but unfortunately the one she was waiting for is still a few years off. That’s the Ibudilast. She did yesterday for the first time mention Mavenclad. In all honesty I didn’t know…

Finally relief

Finally relief

So after my gastroenterologist visit I was given stuff to do to “clean me out” Gastroenterologist visit. This is the same kind of prep for a colonoscopy. I had to take magnesium citrate and I was so nervous about having an accident. I took it and waited, and waited, and waited. This is supposed to work within 30 minutes to 3 hours. Eight hours later nothing. Finally the following morning I went a little, far from the “cleaned out” goal….

My handicap accessible bathroom

My handicap accessible bathroom

I had to get work done in my condo. I needed to make my bathroom handicap accessible. It is inside. I have a grab bar and a stall shower but the doorway was so small I couldn’t get my walker in let alone my wheelchair. It was on the list of things to do to make my life at home more accessible. I have two bathrooms in my condo. I usually use my daughter’s because I keep my bedroom door…

Gastroenterologist visit

Gastroenterologist visit

I have to say this was a really nice office. The whole staff was super nice but the doctor was extremely nice. He spent a lot of time with me discussing the issues with constipation and multiple sclerosis. What a nice man he was. After a lengthy conversation together, the diagnosis was chronic constipation. Nothing shocking there, I knew that as did my referring neurologist. It was what should we do about it that needed an answer. He asked me…
