Biotin, dating, Ocrevus and me

Biotin, dating, Ocrevus and me

It’s been a strange couple of days. I’m finally able to start taking my high dose biotin again. If you read any of my other threads on biotin, and there are many, what mostly showed in the biotin is that my walking speed increased by seven seconds. This is according to my neurological test by my doctor. However I’ve stated, and I still stand by, that biotin helped do more. Besides noticing more weakness in my legs and hip area,…

Have a very happy hump day

Have a very happy hump day

It’s the hump day. That middle of the week where it’s all downhill to Friday. I’ve been up since roughly 5:30 this morning. I’m exhausted. I couldn’t sleep. I should change that, I couldn’t fall back to sleep. Not sleeping is like an instant bad day with MS. I just wrote the ticket for the day. Not that I could’ve controlled it, I just know how my body is when I don’t sleep. My daughter was up all night studying…

I raised a responsible kid

I raised a responsible kid

My baby girl went out last night and didn’t get back to her dorm until almost 7:00 am. Does it make me a bad mom to say I’m slightly impressed? She is finally enjoying the city life with a mixture of high school friends and a few college friends. It’s been a tough road so far, her first semester at college, so I’m so happy that she is out and about in the city over the weekend. Well right now…

A place called Jugs and Strokers

A place called Jugs and Strokers

I was just turning 35 when my divorce started. My daughter was all of seven. I was losing my house because I couldn’t afford it by myself.  I already have MS now for eight years.  I pretended I wasn’t sad, scared, and everything was happy maybe for the sake of my daughter, maybe for the sake of myself, but looking back on things probably wasn’t the truth. I spent 10 years married three years before marriage with him. That was…

Opening again to the possibility of a relationship

Opening again to the possibility of a relationship

For the first time in a long time, I put in my morning affirmations an openness to meet someone. It’s been probably close to a year. My future person, if there is one, isn’t on match or plenty of fish. If I meet someone it’s being at the right place at the right time. Who is my guy? Well I can tell you who he isn’t. He’s not a sex crazed nympho-maniac. I don’t think I was ever in this…

Grateful for being a single mom

Grateful for being a single mom

A few weeks ago my daughter and I got matching tattoos. This was a promise I made to her years ago before she was legal to get a tattoo. Our last name is Star so we got the stars on our wrist. Black for me, blue for her, intertwined in the ribbon. The tattoo needs something else but we’ll figure that out and add it at a later date. When I told my sister she said, “yuck but you two are…

With 2 minutes to spare, my daughter made it to her first college class

With 2 minutes to spare, my daughter made it to her first college class

It really started last night.  Because my daughters is deaf and wears cochlear implants that come off at night, she needs an alarm clock that will shake the bed to wake her up. The school has one that they put in the room that is tied to the fire alarm but we had no idea how to work it. So we took her alarm clock from home that she’s used for the past 10 years.  She brings it to her…

He moved out and it was Mikayla and I and the pets. 11 years and now she’s growing up off to live in NYC and go to school. I know…

My daughter officially graduated high school

My daughter officially graduated high school

It was a happy day yesterday, I watched my daughter graduate from high school. It wasn’t held at her school, it was held inside at a theater that holds a good amount of people. Therefore, I was able to have tickets for myself, my mom, stepdad, stepmom, her father, her fathers wife, aunt, step sister and a cousin. They let the graduates have their phones during the ceremony. I text my daughter and asked her to close her eyes for…

Rocking Motherhood in 10 different ways despite MS

Rocking Motherhood in 10 different ways despite MS

I follow all the blogs I come across with people that have a MS. I like to see how they deal with it what’s going on with them, what medicine they take, etc. I like to read how they deal with the obstacles of having MS and balancing life. One of my personal favorites is Jen from http://Www.trippingthroughtreacle.wordpress.com. Jen’s blog is uplifting and inspiring despite her illness.  Jen has had MS for over 20 years. For me especially at 19 years…
