A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
This is going to be a good week

This is going to be a good week

I have so many good things happening this week I am so excited for each day. Let’s start with today. I’m getting my new wheelchair today at 3:30. What makes this one totally different is that this is a true chair for a disabled person NOT just a motorized wheelchair. This chair will have the ability to move my position in the chair forward and back. We also paid extra for the ability to go up and down. I’m not…

Celebrating Flag Day

Celebrating Flag Day

So I goofed and I thought Father’s Day was yesterday. I never looked at a calendar. Mother’s Day is the second Sunday in May, just assumed Father’s Day followed the same protocol for June. I sent my dad an e-card (he received his present already). My stepdad celebrated by my sister upstate and then was having dinner by me. I even wished everyone a Happy Father’s Day ending my blog on Saturday. Week ahead. It wasn’t until I called my…

My new puppy, Minx, will not be here now until Wednesday. Only a day later, not a big deal, but we are excited. I did get new videos. He’s getting big… Zoey normally has the best reaction. She tilts her head while looking at me. Every time I try to video her reaction she doesn’t do it, but this was cute. I’m still doing my fundraiser on Facebook, I’m close to my goal. https://www.facebook.com/donate/269271657770872/269271671104204/. I can’t begin to thank all the…

Maybe a little leg improvement

Maybe a little leg improvement

I did an update on my phone this morning and my WordPress app has been running very slow. Plus I’ve been experiencing some glitches. I’ve now turned off my phone twice and rebooted the app for the second time. All to write a blog that I had nothing to say. I was off to a late start this morning. It’s 11:00 and I just completed exercising. I did two different chair programs. One for core and one with weights. I…

Which do you pick?

Which do you pick?

My new puppy addition will be here in 5 days. We are very excited. Zoey is too. Every time you say her friend is coming she tilts her head and stops what she’s doing. It’s very funny. I’m trying to get a trainer lined up. Let’s be real, when Zoey was a puppy, I was still using my walker most of the time. Now I’m in a wheelchair most of the time. Training a puppy will be challenging. I will…

Increasing aid hours or not….

Increasing aid hours or not….

I’ve said many times that I start to write my blog with one idea and it goes a completely different way. Sometimes the blog writes itself. This is what happened yesterday Summer heat hibernation and my own multiple sclerosis realization. I certainly wasn’t planning on addressing the idea of more aid hours. I’ve pushed back on this, against my family’s concerns, because I need some alone time. It’s probably why I never have a problem being home. I’m with someone…

Summer heat hibernation and my own multiple sclerosis realization

Summer heat hibernation and my own multiple sclerosis realization

The quarantine is starting to lift yet this is the weather I start my hibernation. It’s starting to warm up and that means trouble for me and multiple sclerosis. Not just me, many of us. Between 60% and 80% of people with MS find that heat can cause their symptoms to worsen. This might involve a build up of fatigue, blurred vision, loss of balance or a worsening of cognitive symptoms such as concentration or memory. https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/temperaturesensitivity I missed all my good months to…

It is not easy having multiple sclerosis

It is not easy having multiple sclerosis

I had another rough night. This time I was alone. My daughter has been home for two months and the one night she’s out I really needed her. Unfortunately in my exhausted state, I fell. Not only did I fall but I was in a very bad spot. I was now exhausted and helpless. Not a good place to be. I spent a lot of time and energy maneuvering myself into a position of hope. Hope that I could possibly…

LegXercise

LegXercise

This is my recent purchase. It is designed for elderly and people with little mobility. It works by moving you feet in a walking like motion. You can see how it looks from the top of my legs in this video. My legs are definitely moving. They are not going super fast but they are getting movement. I did this for an hour yesterday while I sat and watched TV. I had to stop because the truth was my legs…

How are you feeling? The truth about Parethesia

How are you feeling? The truth about Parethesia

When you live with a chronic illness I think you start to hate that question. People ask it all the time but they really don’t want the actual answer. Trust me, we very rarely actually respond with the truth. My go to answer is I’m doing ok. I can’t say good anymore because that is just too much of a stretch. I just answer with a vague I’m doing ok and change the subject, how are you doing? What is…
