A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
Decisions to isolate

Decisions to isolate

Well I canceled my therapy until further notice. After my blogs last week Not liking physical therapy PT like it or not…, you’d think I’d be happy making this decision but I really wasn’t. I’m not trying to be overly dramatic about the Coronavirus but I am trying to be smart. In therapy I can name fifty surfaces or more I touch that someone else has touch seconds before. They do not sanitize every surface in between patients. It is…

Forks over Knives Baked Apple Chips

Forks over Knives Baked Apple Chips

I was cleaning out the refrigerator yesterday and realized I had tons of apples. Why not make Apple Chips. So easy to do and works for every diet. Baked Apple Chips Ingredients 2 large unpeeled apples  ¼ cup date sugar  ½ tsp ground cinnamon  ¼ tsp ground nutmeg  Method Preheat oven to 200°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. Using a mandoline or serrated knife, cut apples crosswise into ⅛-inch-thick slices. Arrange slices in a single layer on…

Coronavirus and those with a weakened immune system like MS

Coronavirus and those with a weakened immune system like MS

So my mom called yesterday and discussed the coronavirus with me and my weakened immune system. I can’t lie I was expecting this conversation with her and was pretty amazed she’s lasted this long. I also have to admit it’s been in my head. To make things worse, my infusion is coming up. I decided to write to my MS specialist. This is what she wrote me back: Hi Jamie, I hear you. Right now there are only a few…

I love the view

I love the view

I’m distracted today. I’m watching the sun shine and twinkle off the water. There is even a boat. It is my favorite thing to look at. I know I’ve said this so many times but I just can never get enough of the sight. I can get lost in my view. I love everything about where I live. There has been NO construction on the corner site. Will there be? I’m sure. The land was purchased for close to 4…

Rituxan infusion coming up

Rituxan infusion coming up

Good morning and happy hump day to all. Got through the day of exhaustion from therapy yesterday. At least I had a justifiable reason for being fatigued. I even made it to my hair appointment and no more grey hairs, at least for the next 5-6 weeks. My wonderful hair dresser, who is also a good friend, even blew out my hair for me saving me a step so I didn’t have to deal with it myself. I’m almost due…

PT like it or not…

PT like it or not…

This might be brief. I just got home from my double therapy sessions. I am wiped out as expected. OT was challenging and PT was hard as expected. I can’t say I dislike my new PT therapist she knows what she is doing but makes me work. She is more focused on my exercises, all of them. Today she had me doing the leg press from the chair. I’ve done this a million times in therapy and found it to…

Not liking physical therapy

Not liking physical therapy

So after a second day of consuming a regiment of oregano oil and using Doterra Breathe, I got into bed sneezed once and never sneezed again. Achoo-ing through the night. Woke up fine. So strange!!!! I’m doing much better with the Provigil. I’m so happy to report. I am no longer waking up exhausted as if I never slept. That has been such a huge difference that I’ve been able to get back to my life. I have still been…

Achoo-ing through the night

Achoo-ing through the night

The other bight I was kept awake sneezing my head off. I’ve used a million tissues. I woke up and immediately start my regiment of consuming pure oregano oil in water and by mid morning the sneezing stopped. I had a sneeze here or there but nothing like the evening. Then I went to bed last night and the sneezing began again. I once again was up most of the night. Between the sneezing and blowing my nose, there wasn’t…

What happened to winter

What happened to winter

This has been a very mild winter. I think there has only been one day that it actually snowed and the snow was about an inch. Not that I’m hoping for big snow storms because they’d keep me housebound, but come on, it’s winter. I need at least one good storm. I love looking out the window to the white world when everything is quiet because no one has gone out yet as the snow continues to fall. That is…
