Game Day and Mahjong

Game Day and Mahjong

This week went fast. I don’t say that often since my weeks blend together. I am happily writing this with the sun shining windows open. It is beautifully cool. Looking forward to the fall weather. I’m actually looking forward to my oversized sweatshirts. I am excited to put on those comfy oversized shirts and be bundled up with my puppies. Fall is my favorite time of the year. Although I missed winter this year being in and out of the…

That’s a lot of Empty Space

That’s a lot of Empty Space

I had my first big outing yesterday. I went with my stepdad to take Zoey to the vet. I wasn’t driving but I’ve been a passenger many times while he drives. I even went into the vet with Zoey. I saw people other than my family and close friends. That was a big deal. Thankfully Zoey is doing better. She will be on gabapentin for an extended period of time, possibly her life. I told her I have gabapentin on…

The hard day is done

The hard day is done

I made it through the day yesterday but barely. I was absolutely shot by the time I got home. I got everything I wanted accomplished. I officially have handicap plates on my van. They almost didn’t let me get them. I had a copy of the original DMV doctor form. I didn’t think and grabbed the copy. According to the rules they don’t accept copies. The supervisor finally came over and did a visual confirmation and accepted the form. I…

Time for handicap plates on my van

Time for handicap plates on my van

I’ve been wanting to get handicap plates on my van since I purchased the vehicle. There was a whole thing with the plates because I purchased the van in New Jersey and I live in New York. At that time I would’ve had to surrender the plates and re-register after I just paid the NYS 2 year registration fee. New York State isn’t very good at giving you money back and prorating so I just stuck with my handicap tag….

Snowstorm results and flooding expectation

Snowstorm results and flooding expectation

Good morning world. How are you this fine Tuesday morning? The big snowstorm didn’t leave as much as anticipated, from what I can see from my window. It rained last night and that definitely changed things. Cars are easily going down the road However that little snow and ice doesn’t work well for me. Power wheelchairs don’t like those conditions much. My handicap van ramp likes it even less. When I first got my van I opened the ramp by…

Not exactly a snowstorm

Not exactly a snowstorm

An uneventful snowfall, as they said it would be, for my area. Not the blanket I was hoping to wake up to but pretty I guess. I was watching this car for a bit as it’s tires kept spinning. He was unable to find traction to get out of the lot. o I learned the hard way that the same traction need holds true for wheelchairs. Any snow or worse ice and my wheelchair can easily get stuck. A patch…

My next big project/accommodation

My next big project/accommodation

My handicap van, one of the most life changing things I was able purchase. This took months of research to find grants. Then after finding grants I had to first apply to each and every one of them. Coordinate the grants with each other. I had a fundraiser going in the middle of all of this trying to raise additional funds. I still had to find a van and negotiate a price. Finally I needed to get a car loan…

Giving names to my assistive devices

Giving names to my assistive devices

I’m happy to report I have had no strange incidents with my wheelchair, Houdini, this week. My wheelchair might be trying to kill me. However it is only Wednesday and I’m hoping I haven’t spoken too soon. I name all my things: cars, assistive devices, even the TV (although that name was lifted from an episode of Friends). My first rollator name was JJ Walker, the character that said “Dynamite” on Good Times. It was a very heavy sturdy walker…

It’s almost Christmas time at my sisters

It’s almost Christmas time at my sisters

Isn’t it crazy how fast November and December go? It always amazes me. It was just my birthday at the end of November and now I’m planning my trip to go to my sister which is always for Christmas. We’re leaving in a week from Sunday. This has become our families thing to do every Christmas holiday. We go to my sister in Saugerties and spend that week with her and her husband. Now it’s her husband, her and her…

A list of thankful Thanksgivings

A list of thankful Thanksgivings

Thanksgiving is here again. It’s time for family traditions of certain dishes made once a year with an extremely large turkey that is never eaten and always consumed for at least three days after today. My family all contribute a dish. I always make my carrot soufflé which I’ve learned to make for every single diet I am following. https://multipleexperiences.org/2018/03/16/carrot-souffle-vegan-or-non-vegan/. My mom makes a corn soufflé and the stuffing. My sister makes the soup and sometimes brings a vegetable. We…
