It’s not multiple sclerosis, you’re just getting older

It’s not multiple sclerosis, you’re just getting older

When I was at my doctor the other day, I was explaining some of my symptoms. I thought I possibly my optic neuritis was acting up. My very first MS symptoms was  optic neuritis. It was in my right eye and it was like a huge sunspot in my field of vision. I had it once very mildly in my left eye, same thing but much less intense. I believe I had one other issue in my right eye over the…

Disease Modifying Therapies in MS, do you take them?

Disease Modifying Therapies in MS, do you take them?

I received a comment yesterday, on an older blog, about my Ocrevus infusion. What I found interesting is she’s had multiple sclerosis for 36 years and she’s first going on a disease modifying therapy. First of all I have to say, 36 years within any DMT, that is amazing!!! I know other people like that or that have stopped taking any of the disease modifying therapy drugs for a variety of reasons. I never had that option. My multiple sclerosis…

Biotin a year review

Biotin a year review

If you’ve never read my blog before, I invite you to look through the search box and find my numerous posts on biotin. If you don’t want to take my word, this is an article from the web with the doctor who has been conducting the clinical studies on high dose biotin in multiple sclerosis. https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2017/05/09/medday-new-phase-3-trial-and-belief-in-biotin-potential-to-treat-progressive-ms-interview-with-frederic-sedel/ My MS doctor had read the notes on the clinical studies and started me on biotin back in December of 2016. With biotin being a…

Neurologist check up day, NYC specialist

Neurologist check up day, NYC specialist

Going to the neurologist are usually a bittersweet day. I really like my neurologist in the city, she is a wonderful doctor. I honestly couldn’t ask for more compassionate, caring and understanding for MS.  That being said, there’s limits to what could be done for me. Since seeing her regularly I’m on my third MS drug that I started back in September, which is Ocrevus.  I can say that I was on Rituxan prior to this and the changes only…

Good morning sunshine

Good morning sunshine

I’m very chipper this morning. I slept in. Both dogs let me sleep until 8:00. However, most importantly, my leg strength, or I should say what normal strength they have, came back. I stopped using the bathroom a million times throughout the night and I haven’t had any accidents since Thursday. The chances that I really did have a UTI and needed the antibiotics are pretty good. The doctor even said in two days you’ll know because your MS symptoms…

Where is the real October weather

Where is the real October weather

I’m wearing shorts on October 25th in New York. My windows are open in my house but there is no such thing as global warming. Oh please. This is crazy. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/new-york-ny/10007/october-weather/349727. In case you actually care, everyday it’s been higher than normal this October. I always said I wanted weather like San Francisco 70 degrees and beautiful each day, guess I’m getting it except we get humidity. Yesterday was so humid and MS doesn’t like humid. It’s like starting five steps…

Oh yeah I remember another manic Monday

Oh yeah I remember another manic Monday

Good morning. I am not sure where my post is going to go today because I have no idea what I want to say. I have a headache again. I’ve been getting them more and more frequently. Luckily they have been going away with ibuprofen but I’m on medicine everyday for headache/migraines, why am I getting them? They were really bad when I was sick last week but I had one yesterday and now I have one today. I guess…

My little French bulldog protector

My little French bulldog protector

I am finally feeling a little better. I got some Musinex yesterday which helped but the pounding in my head finally stopped too. I still don’t feel great but the fog that swept over my head and body has mostly lifted. I must again say with warning to anyone on an immunosuppressive drug be smart around others with any kind of sickness. I’ve was on Tysabri for almost two years and Rituxan for over a year and a half and…

Uh oh, I’m getting sick

Uh oh, I’m getting sick

My favorite person came home from college last Thursday with a terrible cold. Poor thing was so sick. I wasn’t even sure it was just a cold. I thought she could perhaps have a sinus infection. However come Sunday the pressure in her head was somewhat better and she didn’t want to go to the doctor. I thought I was being careful around her so I didn’t get sick but alas, she shared my giant jug of water I always…

Each day’s a gift and not a given right

Each day’s a gift and not a given right

I found out last night, an old friend has cancer. It started as breast cancer and has spread to her bones. This is a woman I use to work with. She has the greatest sense of humor and her laugh is contagious. Life is very unfair sometimes. After I spoke with her, I was taking my dogs outside to their little dog run, and as I sat on my chairlift going down, I was grateful. I know that sounds horrible,…
