This is not my week

This is not my week

I had another accident yesterday as I was sleeping. I was sleeping, how horrible is that? I was in the shower cleaning myself at 12pm. WTF????? This has been a brutal MS week for me. Between being stuck on the floor A honest look at an MS bad day and accidents this has been an extremely dis heartening week. Yesterday I scratched up my car. I’m still in my reserved handicap spot but it isn’t the van spot. I have…

For my safety with multiple sclerosis

For my safety with multiple sclerosis

I have many things in place that keep me safe from falls on a daily basis and I thought today I’d list each one: Hooveround MPV5 this is my everyday motorized wheelchair that I use all the time outside my condo and sometimes in my condo. Plus it is used always with my handicap vehicle. My drive rollator walker. I use this around the condo if I feel strong enough. 3. My Med Alert system. I wear my bracelet everyday….

Why I talk about the embarrassing MS symptoms

Why I talk about the embarrassing MS symptoms

This is in regards to a number of my blog posts like A honest look at an MS bad day orBackdoor chute suggestion worked. I talk about the embarrassing symptoms that I have that it hopefully helps someone else to feel less embarrassed. It is another part of my disease as out of my control as my gait and my numbness. It isn’t something that I can control anymore than I could control another MS symptom. I get why we…

A honest look at an MS bad day

A honest look at an MS bad day

I was fatigued yesterday doing my normal routine in the morning which involves cleaning up after my dogs, feeding them and morning grooming for me. I had a goal to workout. I knew I should have waited a bit since i was already fatigued but I wanted to get it over with. On top of this my stomach was bothering me. I know better for all these reasons but I pushed it anyway. Within 10 minutes of my chair Zumba…

Keeping my Multiple Sclerosis body strong

Keeping my Multiple Sclerosis body strong

I went into the gym in my building this week. It isn’t a large gym but they have more than enough to get a good workout. I have been trying to do some weight lifting exercises in my condo over the weekend. The problem is I’m exhausting myself and my arms and I’m alone. It is causing problems for me when I’m trying to get around. Not the safest thing for someone with MS to be doing. I decided to…

Stomach issues cancelled my day

Stomach issues cancelled my day

My plans for today got ruined thanks to stomach issues. Since I can’t always control the backend chute I couldn’t risk having an accident outside my home. I was supposed to have mahjong today and I’m so bummed I had to cancel. I love playing and look forward to it each week. This would have been very welcome on a Monday replacing physical therapy. I have no problems skipping that. I started today with an “accident”. Right when my aid…

Multiple sclerosis relapses and disease modified therapies

Multiple sclerosis relapses and disease modified therapies

I was talking this morning to my step sister about MS attacks or relapses if you choose. We were talking about someone undiagnosed for years therefore not on any MS disease modification medicine. I told her how lucky I was that I was quickly diagnosed but more so that way back then there was ANY medicine for MS. I strongly believe that if I wasn’t on some kind of medicine I would have been completely disabled within a window of…

Multiple Sclerosis no rhyme or reason

Multiple Sclerosis no rhyme or reason

I say this all the time, you can’t plan for things because you just don’t know. What doesn’t cause problems one day may be a gigantic obstacle the next day. One day you feel fine the next you can’t get out of bed. People around me always say it’s the weather or may say maybe you’re getting sick, I just know it’s the nature of the disease. A good example is when I was playing mahjong. I’ve had issues many…

Trying to stop gabapentin, lesson learned

Trying to stop gabapentin, lesson learned

Gabapentin is an anti-epileptic used to control some types of seizures in epilepsy. It is used in multiple sclerosis to control dysesthesias (pain caused by MS lesions) and the pain caused by spasticity. (As per the National Multiple Sclerosis Society) I’ve been taking this drug for years. I’ve had it in a wide range of dosages from 100mg to 600mg. Probably about 4 or more years ago my doctor started prescribing me 300mg to take daily. I took them every…

The Obesity Code

The Obesity Code

After my upsetting week last week following weight watchers I choose to see my weight differently. I asked the universe for help. I immediately got to my life coach but then I got an email from my cousin. It was actually her second email regarding a book called <br /> . My cousin’s first email was explaining about the book before she knew I was struggling. The second email was following my blog post where she was more insistent that…
