Hallelujah Rituxan was approved
It was actually approved for my Rituxan infusion. I will be taking it like the Ocrevus and in a full dosage. I know that my doctor has lowered the amount of steroids I need to take prior to the infusion and I will be taking 250mg. Still a high dosage considering prednisone, the oral steroid pill most people take, is normally issued in a step down pack where the highest dosage is a 10mg pill 6 times a day. Just puts into perspective how much 250mg is and it is through an IV.
If you want to know about Rituxan for MS https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2018/01/16/study-shows-long-term-use-of-rituximab-is-safe-and-effective-for-ms/ There is also a great article explaining the similarities and differences between Ocrevus and Rituxan. https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2017/04/19/ocrevus-and-rituxan-and-differences-neurologists-respond-to-ms-patients-concerns/ They are very similar with a very different price point.
I’m relieved I got Rituxan approved with very little headache and frustration. I am sure I will have the same post infusion reactions as I did with the full dose of Ocrevus. I hopefully will have the 5 hour infusion tomorrow.

Congrats on the Rituxan approval, I was on for a very short time many years ago. May I be so bold to ask what category of MS your doctor clarifies you as being? The last medication I was on was Lemtrada and that was several years ago with not much in a favorable outcome.

Hi Dix, I write a blog lol my life is an open book. Technically I’m still listed as Relapsing remitting because 4 years ago I was off meds and had a relapse. It’s all for insurance. Yet I’m also secondary progressive. I’ve been getting slightly worse for years. More in the last few years.
