A day in the life with multiple sclerosis.
Scary MS symptom strikes again

Scary MS symptom strikes again

I wrote a text to my mom at 5:38 that said I almost choked to death, I’m still shaking. I was certainly grateful to be able to write the text and happy to be able to write this blog. I was eating a sugar free Swedish fish and a small piece went down my throat and got stuck. I wasn’t able to cough it out at first and wasn’t able to breathe. I can’t say what happened because it was…

A different kind of spiritual experience

A different kind of spiritual experience

I’m staring off at the water watching the sun glint and sparkle. There is one boat making tiny ripples. It seems warm today a very light breeze and I happily opened my windows again. This is just my favorite time of day, especially a weekend day. No one is around it’s just me and the dogs. My home is quiet and it is balance by the quiet outside except for the occasional car. It is just so peaceful. I’ve taken…

Handicap Van going to shop…

Handicap Van going to shop…

I got in my car yesterday turned the key and nothing happened. The radio worked, my lift comes out, the lights on the dashboard come on but the car doesn’t start. Thinking the battery we gave it a jump and tried and tried and finally the car turned over. Phew. I really didn’t want to miss mahjong. I even turned the car off and on briefly to make sure we were good to go and we were. Off I went….

When MS limitations are a problem

When MS limitations are a problem

I was in a bad mood yesterday. I don’t normally have bad moods that last anymore but yesterday I did. I just didn’t snap out of it and truthfully I am not sure I wanted to. I was upset for my daughter Love to my daughter which certainly set the stage for my day but then just little things got to me. Dumb things. The phone constantly ringing drove me nuts. An email I was answering disappeared. My favorite shirt…

Love to my daughter

Love to my daughter

My baby is bringing her stuff down to her car again. I have both dogs on me staring at the door I might be just as sad as them, not because she’s leaving, because she’s still having a tough time with the roommates. We are trying to find someone to take over her portion of the lease and she’ll move back to campus housing but we haven’t been successful yet. It is a bad situation and I hate having to…

What is good on TV

What is good on TV

I have to say if you are looking for a great show, Succession on HBO is so good. I’m sorry the second season is already over. This morning, first thing, I spoke with my stepsister who I love to analyze shows with. Ok I should rephrase that, I love to hear her analysis of a show. She can remember every part, scene and look of each episode. Not just in this show in all shows. There use to be shows…

God created dogs

God created dogs

My dad sent this to me yesterday Any person who is an animal lover especially a dog can truly understand this video. Brings tears to my eyes actually. I blog about my dogs often because they are members of my family. They are my kids who give unconditional love at all times. They ask for so little in return other than food (ok well maybe mine beg) and a little attention. They always keep me company and they don’t talk…

Flooding in the streets…for real

Flooding in the streets…for real

It is so surreal seeing the flooding that goes on down by me. I’ve seen the streets flood a few times now but watching it is still such a crazy experience. I still can’t figure out where the water actually comes from. The canal is two blocks from me but that road didn’t flood. I watched a truck drive through it. Yet my corner looks like this: This is the street behind me, my view from the balcony in both…

English Bulldog as a service dog

English Bulldog as a service dog

My daughter comes home for the weekend. Very happy about that. Haven’t seen her since the week after school started in August. I’ve missed that cute face. She got this great job at school working for a dog daycare called Camp Bow Wow. She loves it not only because of the dogs but the people. It is the nicest most supportive jobs environments I’ve ever witnessed. Luckily there is even a location close to us at home that she is…

Metro article: We believe we can stop MS, and this is how

Came across this exciting article about repairing myelin yesterday and I wanted to share. https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/09/can-stop-multiple-sclerosis-10875070/?ito=article.amp.share.top.email Twenty-five years ago there were no treatments for multiple sclerosis (MS) – a neurological condition that affects more than 100,000 people living in the UK. Today the picture is very different. There have been major advances in treatment and, following a series of more recent discoveries, we believe we can stop MS. We’ve reached a point where we know what’s causing the disease to progress….
