2nd medical insurance assessment for home health services
My agency where my aid comes from that I been using for over a year is not acepting my insurance anymore. I have the option to change insurance companies and continue to use my agency or I just have to find a new agency. Right now with my current insurance, I receive five days a week, eight hours a day of home health aid services. I had an assessment last week and where they only offered me five days a week four hours a day. Each insurance company has their own criteria that they put into this entire spreadsheet that takes hours of my time and their time. I obviously didn’t accept that insurance.
I got smart though, and I called my case manager from my current insurance that I have. I really like her too. She called me back and the first words out of her mouth were, ” I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you quicker. How is your knee?” She actually cares how I am. It’s more that I could say about my nursing agency that I’ve been with for over a year. Not once did they call me back and ask how I am. The only phone call I received from them was about my re-authorization to resume services and that next time I need to call them when I’m released from the hospital.
My case manager gave me other agencies that Aetna, my insurance, is contracted with. Not only did I call these other agencies, I had specific contact names and they told me how I change agencies, how might aid changes agencies, and how my aid will even make more money with this new agency because she’s not making enough. It is a win win win for all. She is going to sign up today.
Unfortunately I had this appointment already scheduled with the second agency. So I’m going to spend the next 2 1/2 hours answering questions and we’ll see what they say about how much time they’ll give me. Although I believe my aid and I made the decision to change to this new agencies and stay with my current insurance. They were really helpful explaining how to make the change so it all goes smooth. I’m so grateful for that. It’s about time I have one less insurance nightmare to deal with.
