I’ve fallen and I can’t get up
Last night was a very bad night. All my family and friends who haven’t heard the story I’m sorry you’ll be hearing it through my blog. I am fine. If I wasn’t I wouldn’t be writing this today. I played mahjong yesterday for the afternoon and got home around 3. I was completely exhausted more than normal. I started feeling achy as well. I think I was running a low grade fever because of this abscess on my stomach. More skin issues after Rituxan. I managed to get my dinner, get my dogs fed, get aspirin and get back in my chair although everything was a struggle. At some point I had to go to the bathroom and I slipped in my transfer back to my wheelchair. I couldn’t get myself back up. I lacked any strength in my arms or legs to pull or push myself off the floor. I tried pulling my socks off to give me better footing on the floor but even that took forever. It didn’t even help. I laid on the floor incapable of doing anything for almost an hour when I finally called my mom and stepdad.
They were dressed and in the car in no time. I already double locked my door because I was planning on going to sleep soon and they never opened my door when it was double locked. Most people have issues with this because the code works different for the bolt lock than the bottom lock. They couldn’t open the door with the code but thankfully they had the key. When they found me I was laying next to the chair., scooter and coffee table that I managed to drag over hoping to help me stand up. I was partly covered with a blanket because I was freezing having taken off both my socks and sweatshirt trying to gain traction on the floor. They helped me get to my knees and from there we got my legs situated where I could finally get up and in the wheelchair. It took a few tries wasn’t as quick as the sentence sounds but I couldn’t get up without them.
My stepdad got my socks back on my feet immediately. I sat in my wheelchair a little bit trying to come to myself before they helped me to the bathroom and to put me in bed. We decided I am going to get a bathmat non slip runner for in front of my chair to my wheelchair. This way I can hopefully eliminate the slips that I’ve been having on my floors. Even with my non slip socks, I’ve still been slipping. I do believe that the infection from this abscess has played havoc on my MS. I can’t remember the last time I’ve felt as weak as I did these last few days. The abscess has started to drain now and I see the dermatologist this morning. It was a bad night.

You poor thing! It is remarkable that you keep your optimism given the reality your MS keeps throwing in your face. Not being able to lead an independent life is the one thing I fear above all others.
I accepted the stage I’m at but yesterday showed me that I still have other stages of my MS. I can’t deny I wasn’t freaked out
So sorry to hear about your falling and bad night yesterday. Been there done that! Yes, any type of infection, flew,or virus will cause our symptoms to flair up and cause a pseudo exacerbation. Thanks for sharing this story with the world. 🙂 Dix
Thanks for the comment Dix. Unfortunately I can’t go swimming yet until the culture comes back from this abscess. ☹️
