Neurologist check in tomorrow

Neurologist check in tomorrow

I have one of my neurologist appointments tomorrow. I have two neurologists. One is the specialist in NYC at one of the big hospitals. She prescribes my main MS drug, currently Rituxan, plus recommends anything in clinical trials like biotin or statins. She’s a great neurologist but I don’t consider her my main neurologist. That is the one I have the appointment with tomorrow. This is the neurologist that diagnosed me 21+ years ago and has been my doctor the whole time. He has been on my MS journey with me from the beginning. He treats all my symptomatic issues associated with multiple sclerosis. This appointment I need to bring up 3 issues.

  1. Bathroom
  2. Fatigue
  3. Weight

Bathroom is a big issue and I can’t imagine I’m the only MS patient with the problem. I’ve followed all the recommendations and nothing works but laxatives which causes other issues. I know I’m going to have to see a gastroenterologist but the problem is the muscles back there just aren’t functioning. I can see all the doctors in the world but that fact isn’t going to change. I can’t imagine living on laxatives is a good thing. I take so much fiber supplements my stomach hurts from the bloating by the 5th day of nothing happening. This is my biggest issue.

Fatigue. I’ve been tired lately can’t shake it and I’ve been debating about taking anything. I took medicine for years for fatigue but when I stopped working I stopped taking a whole bunch of my pills that helped me get through the day. It has been over 3 years and every single pill I stopped taking has been added back to my list of medications except for something for fatigue. I need to discuss it with my doctor again but the time might have come to add this back.

Weight. I hate this topic. I wrote a blog how I was finally taking of weight steadily Intermittent fasting 5:2 I was so proud of myself then bang, I gained it all back in a week. Was I perfect that week, No, but I certainly didn’t consume 5lbs extra in calories. It has been extremely frustrating. I eat fruit, salad and fish and lately chicken. Over a weekend I may consume a 2 large bakery cookies or vegan chips. I mean far from 5lbs of weight gain. I workout 5 days a week. I get I don’t move much but come on. I eat 88% healthy and exercise what else can I do?

I will write my blog late tomorrow and let you know how things go. Hope you enjoy your week.
